Job description

Title- SAS Developer - Transaction Monitoring

Location- Columbus, OH

Job Description:

 

Major Skills: 6+ years experience in BSA/AML, Transaction Monitoring, with at least 3+ years of dedicated, hands-on experience developing within SAS AML / SAS Financial Crimes Suite environments.

Key Skills:

  • Proficiency in Base SAS, SAS Macro Language, PROC SQL, and SAS Data Integration Studio.
  • Direct experience building and configuring rules in SAS Anti-Money Laundering or SAS Viya) and SAS Visual Investigator.
  • Experience mapping complex transactional data into the SAS standard core data model, writing complex queries for ETL and data transformations.
  • Hands-on experience developing, testing, and parameterizing detection scenario logic, alert generation rules, and threshold filters. 
  • Experience running back testing, grid tuning, and false-positive reduction analyses using SAS or SQL data routines. 
  • Expertise in relational databases (Oracle, DB2, or SQL Server), Git version control, and Unix/Linux command-line environments.
  • Hands-on work experience in AWS Cloud Platform.
  • Strong analytical skills, and ability to do root cause analysis (RCA) independently

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Translate business risk requirements into functional SAS code and detection logic for priority scenario families,  including Velocity & Flow, Profile & Peer Anomalies, Transaction Laundering, Structuring etc. 
  • Perform source-to-scenario data mapping from card processor, sponsor bank, and network data feeds into SAS data staging tables. 
  • Execute unit testing, regression testing, backtesting, and threshold calibration to minimize false positives while optimizing alert quality. 
  • Author detailed technical specs, build documentation, and deployment scripts to support Model Risk Management (MRM) and governance approvals.
  • Always be audit ready

Required:

  • Financial Services / Banking
  • BSA/AML Compliance, Anti-Financial Crime (AFC), and Transaction Monitoring

Preferred:

  • Payments Domain Expertise: Merchant Acquiring, BIN Sponsorship (Issuing & Acquiring), Payment Facilitators (PayFacs), and Embedded Payments. 
  • Understanding of ISO 8583 / payment network message feeds (Visa, Mastercard), settlement batch files, and merchant category codes (MCCs).
  • Graph Analytics or Network Science experience is a plus
