Key Job Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and deploy backend services and features using Ruby on Rails, owning well-scoped work end-to-end with support from senior engineers.
  • Collaborate with product managers, front-end engineers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and turn them into working, tested code.
  • Implement features and enhancements for our core platform with attention to performance, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Participate in code reviews, give and receive constructive feedback, and grow your skills alongside the team.
  • Build and expand automated test coverage, and help keep our CI/CD pipelines healthy.
  • Troubleshoot and debug production issues, escalating and partnering with the team when needed to keep our backend systems stable.

What Characteristics Are We Looking For?
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical work experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in backend software development.
  • Proficiency in Ruby and the Ruby on Rails framework.
  • Solid understanding of relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL), including schema design and writing efficient queries.
  • Experience designing and consuming JSON APIs.
  • Experience with backend testing frameworks and familiarity with continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
