Overview:
Schedule: Full-Time, 9:00AM-5:30PM.
Job Description Summary:
Responsible for accurately and timely accessioning and tracking, processing, and testing all types of surgical, cytological and autopsy tissues and fluids. Additional duties include completing tasks, preventive maintenance, quality control and providing customer service.
Job Description:
Essential Functions:
  • Demonstrates the histotechnological, general laboratory and computer skills required in the anatomical pathology laboratory; may include microtomy skills, routine special and histochemical stains, continuing education of self and peers, and quality control and assisting in the advancement of new technology.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and upholds applicable laws and regulations related to position.
  • Wears appropriate personal protective equipment as designated by lab area. Reports spills and hazardous situations immediately and acts appropriately. Follows established guidelines for disclosure of patient information.
  • Performs preventive maintenance and quality control with appropriate documentation and communication.
  • Participates in continuous improvement programs within the department including participating in quality assurance, continuing education programs, department meetings, and special projects as assigned.
  • Promotes a cohesive work environment and identify resolutions to improve morale.

Education Requirement:
Registered HT (ASCP) or Associate's degree in a chemical, physical or biological science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution, preferred.
