Job Summary
As a medical assistant you will be responsible for providing administrative and/or clinical support to the practice's providers to ensure: (i) quality patient care and (ii) the efficient operation of patient appointments and the provider's schedule. The position will support doctors and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization, and communication. The position must always show care, concern, and compassion of each and every patient. And, the position must perform all duties and responsibilities with professionalism, accuracy, consistency, attention to detail, and in a timely manner.
Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Possession of associate degree in medical assisting or medical associate certification from an accredited medical assistant program, LPN
  • Six months to one year of experience in customer service that also includes experience working with electronic medical/health records.
  • Prior experience working as a phlebotomist and in an OB/Gyn medical office, preferred.
Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Greets and interviews patients and documents basic medical history; assists providers during medical examinations with patient care needs and patient documentation
  • Organizes and schedules appointments
  • Updates and files medical records and insurance reports
  • Arranges laboratory services
  • Checks with patients and types up patients charts
  • Produces and distributes correspondence memos, letters, faxes, and forms
  • Prepares and cleans treatment rooms and medical instruments
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proven working experience as a medical assistant
  • Knowledge of medical office management systems and procedures
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
  • Social perceptiveness and customer-service oriented
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office and patient management software
  • Degree in medical assisting or completion of a certified medical assisting program
  • Attention to detail
  • Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance
