Job description

Job Summary:
The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is seeking a Sr. Apps Development Analyst for the OSU Health Plan. This role involves analyzing and validating system requirements, designing and implementing complex applications, and ensuring optimal performance of these systems through effective programming and quality assurance.
Responsibilities:
• Plans, develops, tests, and documents complex business applications programs.
• Writes and debugs code in the appropriate program language to ensure that the application meets all design specifications and functionality.
• Provides the definition and development of specifications and programming for complex technical modules, applications, prototypes and computer programs.
• Leads application projects from medium to large in scope, risk and impact.
• Carries out procedures to ensure that all application systems, products and services meet minimum organization standards and end-user requirements; tests applications to ensure proper operation and freedom from defects.
• Plans and performs maintenance on applications; modifies program design and code; implements testing procedures; maintains technical documentation.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 4 years of relevant experience required.
• Extensive knowledge of and professional experience with Java, web, and related technologies.
• Knowledge of program logic, analysis, specification design, language selection and report formatting.
• Work experience in developing technical and user documentation.
• Strong project and process management skills; ability to manage complex projects with a medium to large scope.
• Good communication skills.
• Knowledge and experience with information systems and business practices.
• Ability to assist other team members with their technical issues.
• Must be able to keep self abreast of technological trends as well as healthcare technology trends.
Preferred:
• Advanced degree in relevant field may be desirable.
• 4-8 years of relevant experience preferred in Information Technology (preferably experience in Applications Development).
