Job description

SEA, Ltd. is a nationally recognized forensic engineering firm, seeking a chemical Engineer to join our team, due to growth! Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the management of projects involving the evaluation and investigation of physical, chemical and biological environmental hazards
  • Investigate complex engineering scenarios involving chemical releases and exposure events, environmental contamination, groundwater and soil contamination, industrial process failures, chemical manufacturing incidents, product failures involving chemicals
  • Review engineering drawings, operating procedures, testing, and maintenance records
  • Analyze environmental and scientific data
  • Develop technically defensible scientific opinions
  • Prepare comprehensive engineering reports
  • Provide deposition and courtroom testimony as an expert witness
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • Utilizes and applies knowledge of industry-specific standards and codes
  • Conducts unbiased investigations for various types of clients
  • Provides technical findings and conclusions in laymen's terms both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to accept and integrate constructive feedback into job performance
  • Regular and predictable presence in the office

Position Requirements:

  • Preferred M.S. or Ph.D. in Chemical or Environmental Engineering with related Bachelor's Degree
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) and Certified Safety Professional (CSP) a plus, not required
  • Minimum of five years of post-academic related industry experience
  • Experience in reviewing and/or preparing SDS preferred
  • Experience in identification and selection of appropriate PPE for job functions and/or tasks
  • Experience in the oil and gas/chemical industry is preferred
  • Excellent oral and writing skills
  • Public speaking/Teaching experience a plus

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to travel 30% of the time
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to climb a ladder and maneuver in and on buildings and structures
  • Ability to drive in all conditions
  • Ability to fly on airplanes
  • Ability to effectively communicate with clients and colleagues
  • Ability to visually inspect job sites and relevant artifacts
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment as required by the work site
  • Ability to learn a new industry and obtain required certifications
