Master of Healthcare Innovation Program Director

College of Nursing

Position Overview

Appointed by the dean, the Master of Healthcare Innovation Program Director manages the multidisciplinary program and the Innovation Studio, overseeing strategic planning, curriculum development, faculty support, financial management, and stakeholder engagement. The role involves promoting innovation among leaders and entrepreneurs, and requires both theoretical knowledge and practical experience in healthcare innovation. Reporting to the Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Educational Innovation, the director is central to advancing the program’s mission to prepare multidisciplinary leaders to transform complex healthcare systems and craft the future of healthcare through evidence-based leadership, design thinking and change management.

Performance Objectives
  • Develop and implement a strategic vision for innovation that aligns with organizational goals, while identifying areas where new solutions are needed.
  • Create organizational partnerships for innovation with health systems, startups, and industry to provide student project locations, content expertise, and program growth.
  • Create, continually assess, and provide leadership for the ongoing refinement of curricula focused on innovation, cross‑functional collaboration, entrepreneurship, and digital health.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Ohio State Online to plan and implement effective strategies for student recruitment, enrollment, advisement, and retention.
  • Assess faculty needs and outcomes to enhance teaching effectiveness.
  • Represent the college on university committees dedicated to academic matters.
  • Provide support and mentorship for faculty teaching in the program to ensure the highest quality education for student learning.
  • Participate in faculty recruitment and hiring processes to fulfill academic needs.
  • Focus on hands‑on application where students and faculty can build tangible solutions to real‑world challenges.
  • Contribute to student enrollment management, including activities related to admission, progression, and compliance.
  • Support and facilitate the identification and development of educational partnerships.
  • Identify and secure grant funding to support and expand program initiatives.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Education: Doctoral degree in a relevant field (e.g., nursing, medicine, health sciences).
  • Experience: Proven leadership in healthcare innovation and entrepreneurship; minimum of 5 years of frontline experience and teaching expertise, with specialized background in curriculum, research, innovation or entrepreneurship; experience working with student populations.
  • Skills: Proven leadership and management skills; expertise in design thinking, project management, healthcare finance, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of academic curriculum and outcome measurement; familiarity with research and scholarship in innovation and entrepreneurship.
  • Offer: Salary will be based on internal equity and the candidate's qualifications.
