Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Palliative Care Med/Surg Tele position at a cancer hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of RN experience and Epic proficiency.

Details
  • Palliative care unit on the 11th floor of an inpatient cancer hospital setting
  • Patient population includes those with serious illness requiring symptom management, such as uncontrolled pain, severe nausea/vomiting, failure to thrive, and fatigue
  • High-acuity med/surg patient populations seen via floating to other inpatient units
  • Floating required to units of equivalent or lower acuity
  • Rotating day/night schedule: days run 7:00–19:30, nights run 19:00–7:30 (3x12-hour shifts)
  • Shift assignments (days, nights, or a combination) are reviewed every 4-week scheduling period based on department needs
  • Epic EMR experience is required
  • 16-week contract
Requirements
  • Active OH RN license or compact RN license required
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Epic EMR proficiency required
  • 2 professional references required: at least 1 must be from a Manager, Director, or formal leadership role (e.g., Supervisor); a Charge RN is acceptable as the second reference; co-worker references are not accepted
  • Active license and certifications must be in hand at time of consideration
Additional Information
  • This is a newly opening palliative care unit; travelers starting before the unit opens will float to other inpatient units until orientation is complete, providing exposure to the various patient populations the unit will serve
  • Previous travel nursing experience is preferred
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Former facility employees are eligible after a minimum 6-month separation from the facility
  • All requested time off must be submitted at the time of application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
  • Local candidates are accepted
  • Ohio state fingerprinting is required and must be completed promptly after accepting a contract; candidates outside Ohio will need to travel to an Ohio fingerprinting location or will be mailed a packet to complete urgently upon receipt
  • Parking is available on campus through CampusParc at osu.campusparc.com, with multiple permit options ranging from a full-access garage permit to budget surface lot options with shuttle service
