Job description

Title: Field Service Technician
Type:
FTE, Hourly Non-Exempt
Location:
Home based in Northern Illinois
Note:
100% Travel Monday-Friday, some weekends. Expenses covered. Paid overtime.

Summary
Responsible for providing field service and support including troubleshooting, repair, installation, maintenance, and training on various types of industrial automation equipment. Service & support activities will be performed both on-site at a customerโ€™s facility or in-house at a company-owned location. This position is up to 100% travel within the region.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5+ years of field service experience
  • Minimum 4+ years electrical troubleshooting experience (highly preferred)
  • Minimum of a High School diploma or GED; Associates or Technical Certifications preferred
  • Experience with in-field installation and start-up of intermediate to advanced level mfg. equipment
  • Knowledge of system preventative maintenance on intermediate to advanced level manufacturing equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical prints
  • Ability to successfully complete start-up and debug on basic to intermediate level system
  • Basic knowledge of one of the following robotic processes is required: GMAW or Plasma cutting
  • Safety System, Network, and Fieldbus Programming/ troubleshooting experience โ€“ preferred
  • Hydraulic/ Pneumatic/ Lubrication system troubleshooting experience โ€“ preferred
  • Robot Programming experience, Fanuc and/or ABB โ€“ preferred
  • Machine programming (PLC/HMI) experience โ€“ preferred
  • Record of positive customer feedback

Responsibilities

  • Ability to travel regionally up to 100%, including occasional weekends as needed
  • Provide technical support, solve problems, testing, training, installs and maintenance
  • Deliver a consistent, positive, and exceptional customer service experience
  • Work environment may be individually focused or working with a team
  • Industrial troubleshooting in electrical, mechanical, PLC, HMI, robot programming, networks and Fieldbus
  • Take initiative to meet challenging project timelines and budgets
  • Ability to support all aspects of equipment install (rigging, alignment, wiring, startup, etc.)
  • Complete all work -elated documentation with the customer while onsite
  • Assist in any other activities that help to support ongoing strategies
