Job Summary:
This Registered Nurse (RN) position in a Stepdown/PCU unit requires a minimum of one year of experience and focuses on providing skilled nursing care to patients with various medical conditions, including cardiac, neurological, and orthopedic cases. The RN will perform a wide range of duties, from medication administration and monitoring to interpreting dysrhythmias and managing various medical devices. The role necessitates strong clinical skills, teamwork, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment within a Level I trauma center.

Responsibilities:
- Providing comprehensive nursing care to patients in a Stepdown/PCU unit.
- Assessing patient conditions, administering medications, and developing treatment plans.
- Monitoring vital signs, interpreting cardiac rhythms, and managing cardiac drips (excluding titration).
- Managing various medical devices, including arterial lines, central lines, PICCs, and ventilators.
- Performing procedures such as sheath removal, phlebotomy, and wound care.
- Collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient care.
- Responding to emergency situations and utilizing rapid response teams as needed.
- Documenting patient care accurately and efficiently using Cerner.
- Floating to other units within the scope of practice as needed.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois.
- Minimum one year of experience in a Stepdown/PCU, Telemetry, Neuro Stepdown, or similar unit.
- BLS and NIH certifications.
- Proficiency in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and various IV therapies.
- Experience with managing patients post-cardiac procedures, neurological conditions, and orthopedic surgeries.
- Skill in managing various medical devices (e.g., ventilators, chest tubes, feeding tubes).
- Knowledge of isolation precautions and wound care techniques.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- ACLS certification.
- Experience in a Level I trauma center.
- Cerner experience.
- Experience in a teaching hospital.
Special Considerations:
- 3x12 night shifts (1845-0715), with potential for 4x12 shifts.
- Every other weekend rotation.
- No on-call requirements.
- Floating to other units within the scope of practice as needed.
- Block scheduling may be discussed with the manager.
- Maximum 5-day RTO restriction.
- Client may cancel up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without penalty; additional cancellations will be billed.
Scheduling:
- 3x12 night shifts (1845-0715), with the possibility of 4x12 shifts.
- Every other weekend rotation.
- Shift assignments and block scheduling are subject to discussion with the manager.
