Position Overview:Our client is seeking an experienced and motivated Electrical Project Engineer to join their growing team. This role involves working closely with senior engineers on a variety of facility design projects, from conceptual design through construction and commissioning. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong technical skills, a passion for problem-solving, and a desire to grow within a fast-paced, quality-driven consulting environment.
Projects span multiple industries, including education, public works, water/wastewater, healthcare, transportation, transit, and aviation. You'll gain exposure to a wide range of electrical systems such as lighting, power distribution, emergency power, fire alarms, security systems, CCTV, access control, and communications infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:Perform electrical design calculations and system layouts
Design systems using AutoCAD, Revit, and other design tools in line with client specifications and industry codes
Develop construction documents including plans, specifications, and cost estimates
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely and high-quality project delivery
Attend client meetings and support project coordination efforts
Apply NEC, IBC, NFPA, and other relevant codes during design development
Required Qualifications:Bachelorโs degree in Electrical Engineering
5โ10 years of relevant experience in electrical systems design (e.g., power distribution, lighting, fire alarms, telecom, security)
Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Autodesk Revit
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Familiarity with NEC, IBC, and NFPA codes
Must pass the clientโs Motor Vehicle screening
Preferred Qualifications:Professional Engineer (PE) license
Experience with Microsoft Project and Bentley MicroStation
Familiarity with electrical modeling tools (SKM Power Tools, ETAP)
Experience with lighting design software (AGi32, ElumTools)
Knowledge of electrical testing equipment
Experience working with federal, state, and local agencies and regulations
Familiarity with county and state-level project requirements
Work Environment & Travel:Primarily office-based (90%), with occasional site visits
Field work may involve exposure to varying outdoor conditions
Light lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required
Occasional regional travel (within 90 miles) for meetings, fieldwork, or construction verification
