Job description

Job Title: Branch Manager

Location: Kansas City, MO (On-site)

Employment Type: Full-Time

Salary: $120,000 to $140,000 Annually + ESOP

Company Introduction

This opportunity is with an established, 100 percent employee-owned distributor serving the electrical, industrial, and utility markets. With a national footprint and a long-standing reputation for service excellence, the company supplies products and supply chain solutions to construction, industrial, and utility customers across multiple states.

As an employee-owned organization, every team member shares directly in the company's success and long-term growth. This role is well-suited for an experienced distribution leader ready to take charge of branch operations, own the Profit and Loss performance, strengthen customer relationships, and guide a team toward sustainable success.

Role Overview

The Branch Manager leads the daily oversight, administration, and management of all operations at the Kansas City branch. This role provides leadership to branch staff to drive customer experience, sales growth, profitability, and disciplined inventory management. The Branch Manager owns the Profit and Loss performance for the branch and serves as the senior onsite leader responsible for operational execution, talent development, and key customer relationships. The ideal candidate is a results-driven distribution leader who can lead by example, execute with urgency, and build a high-performing branch culture.

Core Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and direct all operational activities for the branch.

  • Own the Profit and Loss statement for the area or areas managed, and provide continuous input to leadership on the branch Fiscal Year budget while monitoring adherence to budgetary objectives.

  • Prepare and implement objectives and plans that support branch and company strategies, including proposal coordination, key customer strategy planning, presentations, financial projections, and cross-market strategies.

  • Coordinate the development of new supply chain solutions, systems, technology, methods, and procedures to improve sales, profits, efficiency, automation, service, and quality within the market.

  • Improve the efficiency and scalability of branch layout, workflow, and equipment, and utilize warehouse management systems.

  • Ensure efficient inventory management, including forecasting, purchasing, and stocking of electrical products to meet customer demand and minimize excess inventory.

  • Provide leadership for the local inventory committee, oversee branch inventory levels and counts, and approve all inventory returns.

  • Make customer calls and establish and maintain high-level relationships with key customers and prospective accounts.

  • Monitor market trends, competitive product and pricing situations, and develop plans to counteract competitive factors affecting sales, profits, and market penetration.

  • Provide field feedback on customer satisfaction and on the performance of vendor programs and promotions, and act as a vendor alignment advisor.

  • Ensure all operations adhere to industry safety protocols and comply with OSHA, DOT, and other governmental agency requirements.

  • Build a culture of excellence, trust, and dedication, and prioritize talent development through coaching, feedback, and exposure.

  • Actively recruit for all branch positions.

Required Background

  • Minimum of a four-year business or trade degree, or equivalent experience.

  • Three or more years of prior management experience spanning operations, sales, or marketing (preferred).

  • Strong knowledge of distribution operations (preferred).

  • Demonstrated Profit and Loss ownership and branch or operational leadership experience.

  • Ability to read, write, and speak in English.

  • Strong working knowledge of PC for Windows, Microsoft Office, internet, email, and ERP software (SAP preferred).

  • Strong business insight, accountability, and the ability to plan, align, and organize.

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with a customer-focused approach.

Compensation & Perks

  • Base salary $120,000 to $140,000 annually, commensurate with experience.

  • Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). As a 100 percent employee-owned company, total compensation includes meaningful ESOP participation that builds long-term ownership value, and it should be weighed as a significant component of the overall package.

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance.

  • 401(k) retirement plan and employee-owner benefits.

  • Paid time off including vacation, personal days, and holidays.

  • Onsite leadership role with minimal travel, primarily for training.

  • Career advancement opportunities within a nationally established, employee-owned distributor.
