JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for the protection of company assets by engaging in the prevention of theft by way of observing, detecting, and apprehending shoplifters at Universal Kids Resort (UKR). Supports the investigation of any illegal act, crime and violation of company policy and deterring additional illegal activity that may occur across UKR property, including the theme park and hotel.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Proactively conducts undercover surveillance of Guests and Team Members as it relates to theft, performing the collection of physical evidence, electronic and performing physical surveillance. Assists with performing behavioral detection for special events as directed.
  • Conducts investigations into Guest and Team Member misconduct resort-wide including; theft, violations of company policy and other internal matters. Performs the investigation methodology including the collection of physical evidence, electronic and physical surveillance, conducting interviews utilizing the Wicklander-Zulawski Interview Method, obtaining written statements and completing case reports.
  • Adheres to specialized observational policies to attain productive apprehensions. Initiates professional suspect apprehension for investigation of retail theft and collaborates with Law Enforcement agencies to report or investigate crimes. Conducts interviews with shoplifting suspects to successfully recover stolen merchandise and assists with internal theft cases.
  • Prepares detailed written reports; gathers and documents evidence as it relates to observed thefts, confiscated tickets, and witness statements for internal theft cases. Supports case management of all incidents from inception through final resolution and partners with Human Resources and UKR Leadership for briefings and confidential information as necessary.
  • Provides Personal Protection for all Celebrity and Dignitary VIP's on property to include advanced detail briefings with Private Security and Law Enforcement Officials assigned for protection.
  • Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UDX policy, procedures, training, and team member involvement activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • Understand and apply aspects of theft detection and apprehension to studio operations. Ability to defuse hostile/confrontational situations in a professional manner. Ability to work undercover alongside law enforcement officers.
  • Must be able to work a flexible and varying schedule based on business needs.
  • Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • A background check is mandatory, and results must meet Universal Kids Resort's background check criteria.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities (KSAs) required.

CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES:

  • Required to successfully attend and pass all recurring mandatory/legal licenses and certifications as a condition of employment.
  • Level 2 (Non-Commissioned) Security License is required.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice or Hospitality Management is preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 2+ years of experience in loss prevention or retail theft investigations is required; or equivalent combination of education and experience
