Job description

Job Summary:
UCSF Health is a leading organization focused on cardiovascular and pulmonary research. They are seeking a Business Technical Support Analyst to provide technical support to faculty and staff, including workstation installation, software maintenance, and network troubleshooting.
Responsibilities:
• Set up install and configure new and transferred PC and Macintosh computers and peripherals as well as laptops hardware installations for a variety of Macs including internal battery memory cache RAM and ethernet cards
• Install maintain and troubleshoot networked Macintosh and PC hardware and software including ethernet and Airport IEEE 802 11 wireless connections and configuring
• Diagnose hardware repair needs schedule and coordinate repairs with vendors to resolve problems
• Maintain current equipment and software license inventory and network documentation
• Ensure hardware and software meets all UCSF security Requirements
• Install PC & Macintosh operating system including upgrades and re-installations as needed
• Install and configure applications software Filemaker Pro Office 2008 and 2010 (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Eudora & Now up to date Sophos and Symantec virus checking programs retrospect clients
• Install and verify UCSF’s Security suite for all users computers.
• Install software for campus online systems (OLPPS STOR)
• Install printer drivers
• Assist in local and wide area networking functions. Diagnose and resolve problems
• Submit work request and coordinate with Enterprise Network
• Trouble shoot and maintain VPN software
• Report network and server problems to ENS and the Medical Center IT support and help resolve issues
• Attend daily CVRI IT meetings
• Configure and maintain servers for back up (Retrospect) databases File sharing servers. Application servers
• Bigfix installation. Bigfix console management
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in related area; and/or equivalent experience/training
• Minimum 1 year of related experience
• Demonstrated technical skills and knowledge of Macintosh and PC hardware servers peripherals and software
• Proven ability to install configure and upgrade desktop systems
• Knowledge of wide area and local networks and the ability to troubleshoot problems and coordinate solutions
• Ability to set up and install programs
• Ability to diagnose problems and determine if they are hardware software or network and coordinate solutions
• Excellent communication skills and ability to instruct/train users
• Server file sharing, Application management. Active Directory
Preferred:
• Knowledge of programs for remote access {RAS) Virtual Private Networks (VPN)
• Knowledge of OLPPS STOR Retrospect software
• Bachelor of Science degree in computer sciences or related field
• Work experience > 5 years with PCs and MACs
