    Supervisory Team Lead - Public Safety Solutions

    Tyler Technologies is looking for a Supervisory Team Lead – Public Safety Solutions at One Tyler Way, Moraine, OH 45439.

    Responsibilities
    • Directly manage 3-5 individual contributors on the same development team, providing regular feedback, performance reviews, and career development guidance with focus on advancing technical skills and engineering practices.
    • Drive adoption and enforcement of DevOps best practices including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, deployment automation, clean code standards, and architectural cloud patterns across the team.
    • Proactively identify, prioritize, and remediate technical debt including library supportability, security vulnerabilities, scalability constraints, and aging third‑party dependencies.
    • Establish and enforce organizational unit test coverage standards, code quality metrics, and automated testing practices to ensure measurable improvements in software reliability and maintainability.
    • Conduct regular one‑on‑ones, set individual goals aligned with team objectives and engineering excellence standards, and address performance issues with coaching and development plans.
    • Facilitate sprint planning, retrospectives, and daily standups, ensuring team alignment with project goals, delivery commitments, and continuous improvement of engineering practices in coordination with the Scrum Master (if different).
    • Provide hands‑on technical guidance and mentoring to team members, supporting their skill development in modern engineering practices, DevOps methodologies, and career growth.
    • Ensure team adherence to organizational security standards, compliance requirements, and best practices for secure software development throughout the development lifecycle.
    • Balance individual contributor work with supervisory responsibilities, maintaining technical contributions while providing leadership oversight and driving engineering excellence.
    • Foster a positive team culture that prioritizes engineering excellence, continuous learning, security awareness, and technical innovation while ensuring psychological safety.
    • Partner with Product Owners, QA, DevOps, Security, and other stakeholders to ensure team deliverables meet business requirements, quality standards, and organizational engineering practices.
    • Handle team conflicts, technical blockers, and resource needs, escalating to management when necessary while maintaining team momentum and engineering standards.
    • Participate in interviewing candidates with focus on technical excellence and cultural fit, provide input on hiring decisions and lead onboarding processes that emphasize engineering practices and organizational standards.
    • Evaluate team member capabilities in modern engineering practices, identify skill gaps in DevOps and security areas, and create individual development plans aligned with career aspirations and organizational needs.
    • Facilitate effective communication within the team and serve as a liaison between team members and upper management, ensuring transparency about engineering improvements and technical initiatives.
    Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or foreign equivalent.
    • 6 years of experience in .NET, Angular, Microsoft SQL Server, ActiveMQ, Cloud/SaaS experience using AWS, and designing, building, and deploying a large‑scale commercial software product.
    • 2 years of supervisory experience.
    • Public sector experience.
    • Experience with development tools such as Visual Studio and AI.
    • Ability to meet a federal background check requirement.
    Location

    Dayton Metropolitan Area, Ohio. Must work in the office at the specified worksite at least four days per week.
