The Staff Electrical Engineer will leverage deep expertise in power systems and load bank applications to drive technical excellence, improve engineering efficiency, and standardize solutions where possible. This role plays a critical part in bridging customer requirements, engineering execution, and production readiness.

We are looking for people who believe in our guiding principles and values of:

  • Safety – We believe everyone should leave Trystar facilities in the same or better condition than when they arrived.
  • Integrity – We’re honest, transparent, and committed to doing what’s right.
  • Customer focus – We have relentless focus on our customers and their success.
  • Right with speed – We use good judgement, make thoughtful decisions quickly, and execute them with purpose and intensity.

    • Translate customer specifications into compliant, manufacturable designs.
    • Drive technical ownership of load bank configurations, medium voltage systems, controls, and component selection.
    • Ensure designs meet UL, NEC, and customer-specific requirements, balancing safety, performance, and cost.
    • Partner with Cx, Sales, Application Engineering, and Operations to improve quote accuracy, reduce cycle time, and enable scalable execution.
    • Lead and participate in design reviews and problem-solving efforts to reduce rework and improve first-pass yield.
    • Identify opportunities to standardize recurring designs and improve engineering efficiency without compromising ETO flexibility.
    • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to engineers and cross functional partners, helping elevate design quality, consistency, and first-pass accuracy.
    • Drive a mindset of continuous improvement and practical innovation, identifying opportunities to streamline designs, standardize solutions, and improve engineering efficiency in an ETO environment.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Electrical and/or Electronics Engineering
  • 10+ Years of experience in electrical engineering, preferably electrical power systems engineering, load banks, or generator support applications.
  • Strong experience in ETO or custom-engineered environments, translating customer requirements into deliverable designs.
  • Demonstrated expertise in power systems, load calculations, and electrical design for industrial applications.
  • Experience with equipment such as load banks, power distribution systems, or similar products.
  • Working knowledge of applicable UL standards and NEC requirements.
  • Familiarity with NFPA 110
  • Prove ability to lead complex designs and influence technical decisions without direct authority.
  • Strong proficiency with electrical design tools (AutoCAD Electrical or similar) and Bill of Material (BOM) creation.
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally across engineering, sales, and manufacturing teams.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.

Preferred skills:

  • Familiarity with resistive/reactive load design and associated cooling and control systems.
  • Experience supporting Request for quote processes and custom quoting workflows.
  • Exposure to design for manufacturability (DFM) and continuous improvement in ETO environments
