A growing engineering organization is seeking an experienced Senior Aviation Project Manager to lead and deliver complex airport development projects. This role offers the opportunity to oversee major aviation infrastructure initiatives while managing multidisciplinary teams through planning, design, and construction activities.

One thing that makes this organization attractive is that this company believes in running it as a "Living Company".

The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise in airport engineering, leadership experience, and a deep understanding of FAA airport design standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage airport development projects from planning through construction completion
  • Oversee project scope, schedules, budgets, technical quality, and regulatory compliance
  • Direct multidisciplinary teams and coordinate internal resources and external partners
  • Manage airside infrastructure projects including:
  • Runways
  • Taxiways
  • Aircraft parking aprons
  • Airfield pavements
  • Grading and drainage systems
  • Pavement markings
  • Ensure designs comply with FAA standards, airport authority requirements, and applicable state and local regulations
  • Prepare and negotiate project scopes, schedules, and fee proposals
  • Monitor project budgets, invoices, and financial performance
  • Conduct quality assurance and quality control reviews
  • Support business development efforts and strengthen client relationships
  • Participate in project pursuits, presentations, and industry events
  • Mentor project managers and junior engineering staff

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license, or ability to obtain Colorado PE licensure within six months
  • 10 to 15+ years of engineering and project management experience
  • Minimum 3+ years of aviation or airport engineering experience
  • Experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Strong understanding of FAA Advisory Circulars and airport design requirements
  • Experience managing complex, high-value engineering projects
  • Strong client communication and contract negotiation skills
  • Valid driver's license, or ability to obtain one shortly after hire

Preferred

  • Existing client relationships within Colorado
  • Prior leadership or mentorship experience
  • Experience supporting business development initiatives

What You'll Bring

  • Strong technical expertise in aviation infrastructure design
  • Exceptional leadership and project management abilities
  • Ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and competing priorities
  • Strong financial and budget management skills
  • Strategic thinking with a client-focused mindset

Work Environment

This position combines office work with field activities supporting active airport and construction environments. Travel for project meetings, site visits, and client interactions will be required. Field activities may involve exposure to varying weather conditions, construction equipment, and airport operational environments.

Join a team delivering impactful aviation infrastructure projects that help shape the future of airport development and transportation systems.
