    Job description

    TrinityRail is hiring a Career Technician, Mobile Repair at our Vidor, TX Site

    The Career Technician, Mobile Repair position is a great opportunity for a resilient, team-minded individual who doesn't stray away from a challenge.
    What you'll do:
    • Conduct railcar inspections to ensure cars are in compliance
    • Perform repairs as necessary while always using current repair procedures.
    • Meet the expectations and requirements of all customers to ensure we deliver exceptional customer experience
    • Ensure all necessary invoicing, inspection, and work order information is accurate and complete.
    • Has the ability to pass any required NDT disciplines and function specific certifications, which may include tank car welding, and demonstrates strong familiarity with AAR rules and regulations.
    • Actively participate in safety assessments and equipment inspections
    • Ability to work within confined spaces and from elevated heights as required to perform work.
    • Able to perform confined space monitoring and create hot work permits.
    • Perform outlined work under supervision of site or crew leader
    • Follows all safety rules and practices
    • May be involved in safety committees or initiatives
    • Understand and complete all basic required on-board training in regard to safety and quality
    • Perform other duties as assigned
    What you'll need:
    • Minimum of 1.5 years' experience in railcar maintenance or manufacturing or proficient in one or more of the following disciplines: Air Brake Testing, Welding, Gasket Valves and Fasteners, BLTII, PTII, VTII, Qualified Coating Applicator, Qualified Coating Inspector, Qualified Abrasive Blaster or other qualifications as applicable
    • Basic understanding of how to read engineered drawings
    • Any type of Welding/Valve/Mechanical experience or railcar knowledge is preferred
    • Ability to learn all major railcar components and basic functions
    • Ability to understand Field Manual of the AAR Interchange rules
    • Ability to use hand tools such as hammers, torches, wrenches, hydraulic jacks, pneumatic tools, and others as required
    • May be required to mentor/train lower-level technicians
    Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements to operate a Trinity Rail vehicle:
    • Accepted candidates will be required to operate a TrinityRail Mobile Repair Truck, with some trucks requirement DOT regulated operators
    • Possess a current valid driver's license
    • Must have a clean motor vehicle record check for the previous 3 years.
    • A clean driving record means the employee has not been held at fault for a car accident, or arrested on charges of violating vehicle and traffic laws.
    Candidates who will be operating DOT regulated repair trucks must meet the following requirements in addition to the minimum requirements above.
    • If previous Commercial Motor Vehicle experience is listed, the motor vehicle record check will be for the previous 7 years
    • Must complete and pass a DOT Physical
    • Complete and Pass a Trinity issued road test
    • Trinity will inquire to previous employers for commercial motor vehicle operation
    • Subjected to annual certification of violations
    • Subject to annual motor vehicle driving records
