Job Description (JD) Lab Engineer (R&D Laboratory Technology Support) Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Lab Engineer to support and maintain laboratory computing environments, scientific instrumentation, and technology infrastructure within a global Research & Development (R&D) organization. The successful candidate will partner closely with scientists, researchers, and business stakeholders to ensure laboratory systems remain secure, reliable, compliant, and operational.

This role combines desktop engineering, laboratory technology support, networking, cybersecurity, and scientific equipment integration. The Lab Engineer will play a critical role in supporting laboratory digitalization initiatives, maintaining validated systems, and enabling seamless data flow between scientific instruments and enterprise platforms.



Key Responsibilities Laboratory Technology Support
  • Provide technical support for laboratory computers, scientific instruments, and connected devices.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware, software, networking, and connectivity issues within laboratory environments.
  • Support scientists and laboratory users through incident management, problem resolution, user coaching, and access management.
  • Maintain and improve laboratory operational technology (OT) and IT environments.

Computer Lifecycle Management
  • Image, deploy, onboard, configure, and decommission laboratory PCs and workstations.
  • Join newly supplied systems to enterprise domains and networks while ensuring compliance with organizational standards.
  • Support and maintain a global laboratory computing infrastructure consisting of approximately 5,000+ PCs.
  • Ensure endpoint devices remain current with security patches, updates, and approved software.

Infrastructure & Network Support
  • Configure, troubleshoot, and support network-connected laboratory equipment.
  • Diagnose connectivity issues across multiple OSI network layers.
  • Support VLAN configurations, IP addressing, subnetting, IT/OT network integration, and basic firewall requirements.
  • Assist with implementation and maintenance of data flows between scientific instruments and enterprise systems.

Security & Compliance
  • Secure and harden laboratory computing environments according to corporate cybersecurity standards.
  • Support validated systems within GxP-regulated and non-regulated environments.
  • Assist with risk identification and remediation activities related to laboratory technology infrastructure.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, data integrity requirements, and regulatory standards.
