Job description

Senior Engineer, Transmission System Planning (Eversource Energy Service Company) Hartford, CT: Develop and maintain the system models for transmission studies including collection, review and/or modification of a variety of electric system parameters: equipment ratings, impedances, contingency sets, protection and control parameters, as well as system topology. Conduct adequacy assessments and develop options to meet delivery objectives with latitude for independent action and decision making. Typical reliability studies include analyses of power flow, transient stability, short circuit, and electromagnetic transients. Identifies key technical issues and develops solutions. Responsible for understanding, interpreting and applying federal, regional (ISO-NE) , industry and corporate transmission planning standards and the regulations of Federal, State and Local authorities. Participate with other utilities and the planning staff of the Independent System Operator (ISO) in the preparation of regional transmission expansion studies. Collaborate with engineers in System Planning, Transmission Asset Strategy, and personnel in Electric Operations in performing analyses and providing technical support in planning. Train junior staff in technical analyses and procedures. Min req: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related quantitative field and at least five (5) years of experience as an Electrical Engineer or related occupation, including five (5) years of experience with each of the following: Power system transmission analysis tools: TARA, ASPEN, and PSSE or PSCAD; Python; Applying electrical theory for planning electrical power supply systems; and Working with federal, regional, and local planning standards; OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related quantitative field and at least three (3) years of experience as an Electrical Engineer or related occupation, including three (3) years of experience with each of the following: Power system transmission analysis tools: TARA, ASPEN, and PSSE or PSCAD; Python; Applying electrical theory for planning electrical power supply systems; and Working with federal, regional, and local planning standards. Up to 10% travel required between CT, MA, and NH (Eversource service territory). Hybrid option to work from home available (3 days in office per week required). Salary: $130,333- $168,960.00.
