About the Role:
The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, and driving strategic accounting initiatives within a professional services environment. This role involves managing day-to-day accounting functions, leading month-end close processes, and ensuring compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and audit requirements. Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger management, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, management reports, and ad hoc financial reporting
  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, state and federal tax regulations, and financial reporting standards
  • Coordinate with external accountants and auditors to support audits, tax filings, and financial reviews
  • Manage preparation and filing of 1099 and 1096 forms, state use tax filings, and business registrations
  • Supervise accounting staff, provide mentorship, and support professional development within the accounting team
  • Maintain and reconcile client trust accounts and vendor statements, resolving discrepancies as needed
  • Research and implement technical accounting policies, procedures, and process improvements
  • Support leadership with financial analysis, strategic planning, and operational reporting initiatives

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, GAAP, and financial reporting standards
  • 2 to 5 years of accounting leadership or supervisory experience in a professional services or corporate environment
  • Experience with month-end close, financial statement preparation, and audit support
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze financial data, prepare reports, and communicate insights effectively
  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and integrity

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in a law firm or professional services environment
  • Familiarity with modified cash basis accounting methods
  • Knowledge of tax compliance, multi-state filings, and regulatory requirements
  • Experience managing trust accounting and client fund reconciliations
  • CPA certification or progress toward certification is preferred
  • Experience with financial systems optimization and process automation initiatives
