    Job description

    We have an outstanding Contract position for a Manufacturing Engineer to join a leading Company located in the Canoga Park, CA surrounding area.

    Pay Rate: $52

    **US Citizenship is required.**
    **Candidate must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.**

    This position will be responsible for mechanical component manufacture, assembly, and integration into rocket engine and power systems products. Responsibilities include designing and planning layout component fabrication, assembly, and material handling, planning the sequence of operations, and specifying procedures. The scope of responsibility will be for several mechanical components or as a process engineer supporting new and developing processes that could be utilized on all programs, with the potential to acquire greater responsibility as performance and experience dictate. 

    Responsibilities:
    • The manufacturing engineer works under general supervision. 
    • May be responsible for entire projects or processes within job area. 
    • May be responsible for providing guidance, coaching, and training to other employees within job area. 
    • May manage projects at this level with responsibility for the delegation of work and the review of others' work product.
    • The manufacturing engineer communicates with contacts within and outside of own department and may occasionally have responsibility for communicating with parties external to the organization (e.g., customers, vendors, etc). 
    • Explains and interprets processes and procedures to others within and outside the job area. 
    • May work to justify and gain cooperation regarding processes, practices, and procedures.
    • The manufacturing engineer's work consists of making moderate enhancements or improvements to systems and processes to solve problems or improve the effectiveness of the job area. 
    • Opportunities for problem solving and innovation are general, and may require understanding of a broader set of issues but typically are not complex. 
    • Problems may require understanding of other job areas. 
    • Problems are typically solved by drawing from prior experiences, with analysis of the issues.
    • The manufacturing engineer works to achieve operational targets with moderate impact on departmental results. 
    • Contributes to the completion of specific programs and projects. 
    • Exerts some influence on the overall objectives of the project.
    • The candidate will utilize design and business software (ProE, CATIA, VisMockup, and/or other similar CAD/virtual manufacturing tools/software, MS Office applications such as Word, Excel) to develop, design, review, and fabricate hardware in support of the Operation and enabling support processes, and Engineering customers.
    • The candidate will develop and implement the process of precision turning operation of complex configurations on a wide range of material types, which will include the following:
      • Determining tooling requirements to safely facilitate optimum positioning of surfaces for machining, cleaning, packaging, and protection for the milling process, support and maintain dimensional requirements, determine machine loading, setups, hardware handling instructions, and scheduling.
      • Perform risk assessments to ensure risks to personnel and the environment are eliminated, and risk to hardware and facility are accurately assessed and communicated to management.
      • Determine clean and etching process for a wide variety of materials.
    • The candidate will manage processes in accordance with the Lean methodology, which will include process certification, process improvement methods (e.g., Kaizen, 3P, VSM, etc.), and other Bluebook elements. 
    • They will also prepare Basis of Estimates (BOE), develop and defend to management key strategic manufacturing plans, risk assessments, and proposals that target customer and business goals; and differentiate between suppliers based on their technical process (Repeatability, Reliability) and business (Reliability, Rates, CSP, ISO compliant) capability.
    • The candidate will determine complex design geometric dimensioning and tolerancing for various machining and measuring methods that meet specifications, tooling, and equipment requirements.
    • The candidate will develop and implement the process of welding of complex configurations on a wide range of material types. 
    • They will also determine tooling requirements for the welding process and support and maintain dimensional requirements.

    Basic Hiring Criteria:
    • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience; Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience; or, in lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
    • Requires proficient knowledge of job area. 
    • May have practical knowledge of project management. 
    • Excellent verbal and written communication, including public speaking.
    • Organizational/Multi-tasking skills that enhance value stream flow and ensure product value streams are effective at meeting customer and company goals.
    • Team building skills - develop relationships across value stream and enabling department resources to effectively manage product value stream.
    • Candidate must be able to thrive in a team environment, work independently, and embrace continuous improvement.
