Job description

Job Summary:

The Legal Recruiter role combines hands-on recruiting for Family Law Attorney positions with program management responsibilities coordinating Cordell & Cordell's Summer Associate/Clerkship program, and sourcing for corporate and other hard-to-fill positions. The ideal professional is an ambitious, relationship-driven recruiter who thrives in juggling multiple priorities and is equally comfortable running attorney searches, managing internal programs, and sourcing talent pipelines.

Responsibilities:
  • Family Law Attorney Recruiting (50%)
    • Own full-cycle recruiting for Family Law Attorney positions, from intake through offer and close, across all levels of experience.
    • Partner with hiring managers to understand hiring needs, define role requirements, and develop targeted search strategies.
    • Screen, interview, and assess candidates for legal expertise, cultural fit, and career trajectory, presenting qualified candidates in a timely manner.
    • Manage the candidate experience end to end, including scheduling, communication, offer negotiation, and closing.
    • Track and report on key recruiting metrics (time-to-fill, pipeline health, source effectiveness).
  • Summer Associate/Clerkship Program Coordination (25%)
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for the Summer Associate/Clerkship program, coordinating timelines, logistics, and communications from recruitment through offer.
    • Partner with internal stakeholders (attorneys, Partners, HR, and other leadership) to define program goals, staffing needs, and evaluation criteria.
    • Build and manage external relationships with law schools, career services offices, student organizations, and diversity pipeline partners.
    • Plan and execute recruiting events such as on-campus interviews, callback interviews, receptions, and orientation for incoming summer associates/clerks.
    • Manage the offer process, including offer approvals, extension, and conversion tracking for summer associates and clerks.
  • Corporate Recruiting, Sourcing & Difficult-to-Fill Role Support (25%)
    • Source and engage candidates for corporate positions using job boards, professional networks, referrals, and direct outreach.
    • Manage corporate candidate experience end to end, including scheduling, communication, offer negotiation, and closing.
    • Build talent pipelines for corporate roles in advance of anticipated hiring needs.
    • Support the broader recruiting team on other difficult-to-fill or niche practice area searches by conducting research, market mapping, and passive candidate outreach.
    • Assist with search strategy for hard-to-source roles, including identifying non-traditional talent pools and competitive intelligence on comparable searches.
    • Coordinate with internal recruitment team to prioritize sourcing efforts across open roles based on urgency and business impact.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Required Education:
    • Some education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or commensurate experience.
  • Minimum Years of Experience:
    • 3+ years of legal recruiting experience, including direct experience recruiting attorneys (Family Law experience strongly preferred).
    • Prior experience supporting or managing a Summer Associate, clerkship, or similar early-career legal talent program, along with sourcing for corporate or other hard-to-fill legal roles.
  • Other Requirements (Knowledge, Skill, Ability, and Licensure(s)):
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Excellent organization skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
    • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
    • Proficiency with an applicant tracking system (ATS) and sourcing tools (e.g., LinkedIn Recruiter, legal-specific job boards).
