Sequel, headquartered in Manchester, New Hampshire, is a company developing the next generation of transformative drug-delivery advancements starting with diabetes. Sequel's approach is to look at diabetes management holistically to advance systems that make living with diabetes simpler and easier for all. Sequel's flagship product, the twiist Automated Insulin Delivery (AID) System, launched in July 2025 for people with type 1 diabetes providing them with personalized diabetes management.ย

Job Responsibilities and Essential Duties

Benefits Strategy & Plan Designย 

  • Analyze medical, pharmacy, and ancillary plan designs toย identifyย cost drivers, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improved outcomes.ย 

  • Recommend plan design enhancements that support preventive care, better care navigation, and improved population health while reducing plan costs.ย 

  • Collaborate with brokers, carriers, and consultants on modeling plan design and cost impact scenarios.ย 

Data & Insight Generationย 

  • Review claims data, disease burden trends, andย utilizationย patterns toย identifyย proactive cost reduction opportunities.ย 

  • Convert findings into actionable strategies such as steerage programs, enhanced clinical management, or targeted communication initiatives.ย 

  • Prepare dashboards and presentations that simplify complex insights for leadership and stakeholders.ย 

Employee Experience & Communicationย 

  • Help create clear, empathetic, accessible communications to help employees understand and make the best use of their benefits.ย 

  • Support open enrollment strategy, materials, and presentations.ย 

  • Identifyย opportunities to help employees choose high value care options and avoid unnecessary costs.ย 

Vendor & Program Managementย 

  • Evaluate vendor performance, ensuring program design aligns with population health goals and cost management targets.ย 

  • Support implementation of programs such as virtual care, chronic condition management, behavioral health initiatives, or musculoskeletal solutions.ย 

  • Ensure carriers and TPAs meet service guarantees andย comply withย regulatory and fiduciary requirements.ย 

  • Drive RFP processes toย identifyย innovative, cost-effectiveย vendors, brokers, and TPAs that support improved population health outcomes and reduced plan spend.ย 

Fiduciary & HIPAA Oversight (Self-Funded Plan)ย 

  • Support the organization's fiduciary responsibilities under ERISA for our self-funded medical plan, including prudent oversight of plan administration, claims processing, and vendor actions.ย 

  • Assistย with preparation and documentation for fiduciary committee meetings, including reporting, decision rationales, and compliance documentation.ย 

  • Monitor plan governance practices to ensure decisions are made solely in the best interest of plan participants.ย 

  • Maintain HIPAA compliance across all benefit functions, including PHI handling, authorization processes, and privacy safeguards.ย 

  • Coordinate required HIPAA training and support audits,ย breachย response procedures, and documentation retention.ย 

  • Partner with internal privacy teams and third-party administrators to ensure adherence to all privacy and security standards.ย 

Compliance & Administrationย 

  • Ensure benefit programs comply with ERISA, HIPAA, ACA, COBRA, FMLA, and other applicable regulations.ย 

Minimum Requirements
  • Education:ย Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experienceย 

  • Experience:ย 8+ years of experience in benefits administration, plan design, HR, insurance, or population health.ย 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Deep knowledge of self-funded plan governance, fiduciary responsibilities, and compliance with HIPAA and other related regulatory requirements.ย 

  • Strong analytical skills and intellectual curiosity, with the ability to proactively investigate plan performance, review plan documents, and analyze claims and financial data toย identifyย trends, risks, and root causes.ย 

  • Demonstrates a fiduciary mindset, withย a track recordย of making decisions aligned with plan participants' best interest in mind.ย 

  • Customer service mindset and commitment to improving employee experience with their benefits plans.ย 

  • Experience with benefit vendor management, claims data interpretation, and/or benefit plan modeling to support strategic recommendations and ongoing plan optimization.ย 

  • Excellent communication and advisory skills, including the ability to translate complex benefits, compliance, and financial concepts into clear, actionable guidance for employees, leaders, and stakeholders.ย 

  • Proficiencyย with Excel, reporting tools, HRIS platforms, and benefits administration systems.ย 

  • Able and willing to work in Sequel's Marlborough, MA OR Manchester, NH office 3 days per week.ย
