Job description

Lead Complex Systems from Concept to Deployment Elma Electronic is seeking an experienced Project Systems Engineer to lead the execution of complex embedded computing projects supporting aerospace, defense, and other mission-critical applications. In this highly visible role, you'll drive projects from proposal handoff through engineering execution, manufacturing readiness, delivery, and customer platform integration. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys combining technical expertise, systems thinking, customer interaction, and project leadership to deliver innovative rugged computing solutions.

This is an onsite role in our Fremont, CA facility. What You'll Do Lead assigned systems projects from proposal transition through engineering execution, delivery, and customer integration. Partner with Embedded Computer Architects to translate customer requirements into executable system designs and engineering plans.

Develop system requirements, architecture documentation, interface definitions, configuration records, and technical review packages. Coordinate activities across engineering, manufacturing, quality, operations, supply chain, procurement, and program management teams. Identify and manage technical risks, design gaps, schedule concerns, and project dependencies.

Support customer reviews, architecture reviews, PDRs, CDRs, production readiness reviews, and integration activities. Serve as a primary technical interface with customers, suppliers, internal stakeholders, and cross-functional teams. Help ensure successful product delivery while maintaining schedule, cost, quality, and technical performance objectives.

What We're Looking For Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience. Demonstrated experience leading complex technical projects and coordinating cross-functional teams. Ability to translate customer requirements, statements of work, and technical concepts into actionable engineering plans.

Strong organizational, communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills. Experience managing project risks, technical issues, schedules, and deliverables. Preferred Qualifications 5-10 years of experience in systems engineering, embedded computing, system architecture, or project engineering.

Experience with VPX, VME, CompactPCI, OpenVPX, VITA standards, SOSA, and rugged embedded computing architectures. Experience supporting military, aerospace, defense, or other high-reliability applications. Knowledge of requirements analysis, proposal support, systems integration, and configuration management.

Salary Range: $115,000 - $130,000 annually (Final compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, and skills.) Why Elma.
