Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Commissioning Engineer – Communication & Networking to join our HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) Commissioning Team. In this role, you will be responsible for commissioning, testing, verification, and troubleshooting of communication networks, SCADA interfaces, HMI systems, and network infrastructure used in HVDC transmission projects worldwide.

You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams including project management, system engineering, component engineering, customers, and external partners to ensure successful project execution and high-quality system performance. This position offers exciting opportunities to work with cutting-edge HVDC technology and participate in international commissioning assignments across the globe.

Key Responsibilities

Commissioning & Testing

• Execute commissioning activities for HVDC communication and networking systems at construction sites worldwide.
• Ensure technically flawless, timely, and cost-effective commissioning of communication networks and SCADA-level communication components.
• Perform testing, verification, and troubleshooting of data communication networks and network interfaces.
• Validate operational readiness and performance of network communication systems before project handover.

Network Infrastructure & Communication Systems

• Commission, support, and maintain predominantly TCP/IP-based network infrastructure.
• Configure and troubleshoot switches, routers, firewalls, and related communication equipment.
• Support implementation and adaptation of HMI (Human Machine Interface) concepts based on project-specific requirements.
• Ensure proper integration of communication interfaces between HVDC systems and third-party equipment.

Time Synchronization & Signal Integration

• Configure and maintain time synchronization systems.
• Commission local and remote signal converters and communication gateways.
• Coordinate communication interfaces with various signal suppliers and system stakeholders.

Technical Support & Troubleshooting

• Provide technical support during testing and troubleshooting activities.
• Collaborate with customers, vendors, and external partners to resolve communication-related issues.
• Support commissioning teams across different disciplines during integrated system testing.

Quality & Continuous Improvement

• Contribute to commissioning management activities related to quality, risk, and claim management.
• Participate in Lean initiatives, project reviews, lessons learned sessions, and continuous improvement programs.
• Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and project execution standards.

Required Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in:
• • Electrical Engineering
  • Electronics & Communication Engineering
  • Telecommunications Engineering
  • Computer Engineering
  • Or equivalent technical qualification

Technical Skills

• Experience in network administration and industrial communication systems.
• Hands-on knowledge of:
• • Switches and routers
  • TCP/IP networks
  • RADIUS and network authentication protocols
  • Network security concepts
  • Network monitoring and diagnostics tools
• Basic experience with:
• • HMI systems
  • PC hardware administration
  • Virtualization technologies
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
• Experience working with electrical measuring instruments and diagnostic tools.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in HVDC, Power Transmission, Power Automation, Substation Automation, SCADA, DCS, or Industrial Communication Systems.
• Skilled Electrician certification or equivalent electrical commissioning qualification.
• Familiarity with IEC 61850 and industrial communication protocols is advantageous.
• Exposure to cybersecurity concepts for industrial control systems is preferred.
