INDUSTRY: Construction, Earthwork
LOCATION: Comfort, Texas / Regional Travel
CONTEXT: PRC Resources is seeking an experienced Dirt Work Superintendent on behalf of our client -a highly respected contractor known for executing complex projects in rough, steep, rocky, and challenging terrain.
This is a field-driven leadership role for someone who can run jobs independently from start to finish. The Superintendent will oversee all aspects of earthwork operations including planning, production, crew leadership, budgeting, and client coordination. This individual must bring a strong sense of ownership, urgency, and the ability to "handle business" in dynamic field environments.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead and manage A-to-Z earthwork operations across one or multiple projects.
  • Plan, schedule, and execute work to meet production targets and project timelines.
  • Maintain and track daily production logs, quantities, and progress.
  • Manage project budgets including cost tracking, forecasting, and material procurement.
  • Review plans, perform basic surveying/layout coordination, and ensure execution aligns with design.
  • Identify and execute change orders while maintaining alignment with project scope and profitability.
  • Supervise and coordinate field crews, operators, and foremen.
  • Oversee equipment utilization including dozers, excavators, scrapers, haul trucks, etc.
  • Coordinate with project managers, subcontractors, inspectors, and clients.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and company expectations.
  • Take initiative to identify issues, solve problems, and keep projects moving forward.

PROJECT SCOPE & ENVIRONMENT:
  • Large-scale earthwork and site development projects including:
    • Mass grading (100K+ cubic yards)
    • Substation pads
    • Right-of-way / utility corridor work
  • Project values ranging from $7M to $70M+
  • Work performed in remote and challenging terrain conditions

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 5+ years of experience as a Superintendent in earthwork, sitework, or heavy civil construction.
  • Proven ability to run projects independently from mobilization through completion.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Earthwork operations and sequencing.
    • Production tracking (yardage, load counts, etc.).
    • Budget management and cost control.
  • Experience managing crews, foremen, and subcontractors.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specs, and grading details.
  • Familiarity with surveying/layout coordination.
  • Hands-on knowledge of heavy equipment operations preferred.
  • Experience with bidding, estimating, or running your own business is a strong plus.
