Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY: The Project Engineer tracks and maintains records that are associated with costs, deliveries and payroll at the job site. The Project Engineer is also responsible for tracking and maintaining all safety communications, manuals and records.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Safety:

  • Prepare and give weekly Tool Box Talks, Daily Safety Huddles and maintain records.
  • Maintain a file for One Call Center requests to ensure no utilities are damaged during construction activities.
  • Maintain a retrievable filing system for the Hazardous Communication Program - MSDS.
  • Maintain the Project Safety Manual, make periodic jobsite safety inspections and record/file all findings

 

Payments:

  • Perform daily Quantity Review with Superintendent and Job Foreman.
  • Enter daily quantities into system and file daily sheets. 
  • Track completion of work on project plans.
  • Perform monthly review of estimates with job Superintendent.
  • Maintain a file, tracking all extra work.
  • Notify Project Manager of anticipated overruns/under runs.

Daily Logs:

  • Maintain General correspondence file with correspondence log.
  • Maintain Shop Drawing Log.
  • Maintain Subcontractor daily log.
  • Maintain Delivery log
  • Accurately track Aggregate, Concrete, Pipe and other major materials that are delivered verses the quantity paid for. 
  • Receive permanent materials, inspect and inventory to ensure compliance with approved submittals and contract documents

Certified Payroll, EEO, Champs, Trainee Reports:

  • Enter daily payroll information by specific task and assist in productivity tracking.
  • Track all subcontractors that worked on the project for the month utilizing the Subcontractor daily log.
  • Submit copes of the Sub Log to Payroll monthly and notifying Area Managers of delays.

Miscellaneous:

  • Maintain Job Records
  • Track Job Codes using Phase Code System
  • Review submittals for compliance to all contract documents
  • Maintain the Request for Information (RFI) to the owner
  • Assist in purchase of job materials to ensure the proper quantities are delivered
  • Review project plans and assist in ensuring work is completed properly
  • Perform Field Measurements
  • Assist with Field Survey and Layout
  • Collaborate with Project Manager, Superintendent and Foreman for creating Work Plan Packages
  • Developing project look-ahead schedules
  • Maintain As-builts
Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • B.S. Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Environmental Engineering, Construction Management or other construction related degree with 3+ years of related experience
  • Experience in Heavy Construction, Civil and Wastewater is preferred with wastewater treatment plants and pump stations and construction of new facilities.
  • Must be capable of meeting deadlines, self-motivated, detail oriented; have above average interpersonal skills and have excellent follow-through capability
  • Verbal and written communication skills are essential to this position
  • Ability to performed effectively in a fast paced environment; able to accurately process written documents, perform duties in a timely manner, be highly organized and able to interface; communicate effectively with company, clients and field personnel at all levels.
