    Job description

    Position Summary

    The Assistant Project Manager (APM) supports the successful delivery of distribution and transmission construction projects across Pike's utility client portfolio. This role is responsible for estimating, scheduling, procurement, financial tracking, and project coordination, helping ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.

    APMs play a key role in connecting field operations, clients, and internal teams while developing the skills and experience needed to grow into full project leadership roles.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Support projects from pre-construction through completion, including estimating, scheduling, and cost tracking.
    • Monitor budgets versus actual costs, manage forecasts, and provide regular project updates.
    • Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure smooth project execution.
    • Assist with procurement activities, contract administration, and change order management.
    • Maintain strong client relationships and support ongoing communication throughout the project lifecycle.
    • Ensure field teams have the information, materials, and resources needed for efficient execution.
    • Apply risk management principles and financial controls to support project performance.
    • Assist with storm response and emergency restoration efforts as needed.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Construction Management, or a related field.
    • Strong understanding of project management principles and financial controls.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Microsoft Project and/or Primavera is a plus.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across teams.
    • Highly organized, self-motivated, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
