Summary

The Mechanical Power Press Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining mechanical power-press equipment used to fabricate highly cosmetic stainless steel components. This role requires precision handling, strict adherence to quality standards, and consistent compliance with safety protocols in a production environment.

Education and/or Experience 

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred. 
• Prior experience operating mechanical power presses or similar industrial machinery strongly preferred. 
• Familiarity with stainless steel handling and cosmetic part standards is a plus. 
• Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to read blueprints and technical drawings. 
• Understanding of workplace safety standards (OSHA familiarity preferred).

• Ability to meet production quotas while maintaining high cosmetic quality. 
• Willingness to work overtime or shifts as required.

Mental Requirements

• Sustained attention to detail and visual acuity for detecting minor surface defects on stainless steel. 
• Ability to follow complex instructions, blueprints, and process documentation. 
• Strong concentration in a repetitive, fast-paced environment. 
• Situational awareness to recognize mechanical hazards and respond appropriately. 
• Problem-solving skills for troubleshooting machine or quality issues. 
• Ability to remain focused and productive under production deadlines. 
• Consistent judgment in determining acceptable cosmetic quality standards. 

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 8–12 hours per shift). 
• Frequent use of hands for gripping, handling, and positioning metal parts. 
• Repetitive motions include reaching, bending, and twisting. 
• Ability to lift and move materials typically ranging from 10–20lbs (occasionally more with assistance). 
• Fine motor skills required for precise handling of cosmetic-grade stainless components. 
• Visual capability to inspect reflective surfaces under varying lighting conditions. 
• Ability to operate foot pedals, hand controls, and other machine interfaces. 
• Tolerance for industrial environments including noise, vibration, and exposure to lubricants or metal particulates (with proper PPE). 

Work Environment

• Manufacturing/production floor with mechanical power press equipment. 
• Exposure to moving machinery, sharp edges, and pinch points. 
• Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and steel-toe footwear. 
• Environment includes high noise levels and temperature variation.
