Object Technology Solutions, Inc (OTSI) has an immediate opening for Staff Engineering Technician
Staff Engineering Technician (Overland Park, KS - Onsite)
Multiple other locations: Ann Arbor, MI or Cary, NC or Denver, CO or Houston, TX or Phoenix, AZ
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- TheVirtual Design & Data Solutions (VDDS) Staff Engineering Technicianplays a key role in supporting the development of high-quality engineeringdeliverables for these complex infrastructure projects.
- Undergeneral supervision, this position performs technical tasks requiringadvanced knowledge of engineering principles and practices, with a focuson creating and modifying site development plans using advanced techniquesin industry-standard design tools, such as Autodesk Civil 3D, BentleyMicroStation, and Bentley OpenPlant Modeler.
- Appliesknowledge of standards, systems, document control, departmental guides,applicable codes and policies and procedures.
- Mayreview project requirements and accurately determine the correct formatand contents of the required deliverables.
- Proactivelyapplies Quality Program to deliverables. Demonstrates personal accuracyand supports continuous improvement and change management efforts.
- Reviewsdesign inputs in order to ensure consistency. Assists to ensuredeliverables are in compliance with the specific codes and standardssuitable for the project.
- Mayapply basic engineering principles and established design practices indeveloping moderately complex design concepts and deliverables. Begins toapply judgment and make decisions with respect to deliverables and inputinterpretation.
- Capableof handling difficult technical assignments within an area of expertiseand can provide technical guidance to other professionals.
- Performsdesign calculations, detailed material quantities and estimates, andrecords.
- Mayreview the deliverables of others.
- Maydefine work assignments and maintain schedules.
- Mayprogram control systems or participate in other plant start-up activitiesassociated with a specialized area of expertise.
- Coordinateswith other design group personnel to review and exchange projectinformation necessary for design development.
- Maysupport field activities. Focuses on the needs of internal clients whileutilizing an understanding of external client's main interests anddrivers.
- Proactivelyseeks and shares knowledge of latest technologies and processes .
- Mayapply judgment and makes decisions with respect to deliverables and inputinterpretation.
Required Qualifications:
- Typicallya minimum of 5 years related work experience.
- Diplomaor Certificate required. Associate or Bachelors Degree in Drafting or anEngineering Design Related Technology preferred.
