JOB SUMMARY
Job Profile Summary
Performs intermediate-level installation, calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and testing of process analyzers, sampling systems, analytical instrumentation, and associated control and electrical systems supporting pipeline, terminal, storage, compression, processing, and measurement operations. This position supports analyzer reliability, measurement accuracy, process control effectiveness, product quality monitoring, emissions compliance, and operational efficiency through routine and moderately complex maintenance activities.
Working under general supervision, applies technical knowledge of analyzer technologies, instrumentation systems, electrical equipment, and industrial maintenance practices to support safe and reliable facility operations. The role performs diagnostic activities, identifies equipment issues, coordinates maintenance activities, and contributes to operational excellence through accurate execution of assigned responsibilities.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Analyzer Maintenance & Calibration
• Install, calibrate, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair process analyzers, analytical instruments, sample conditioning systems, and related equipment.
• Perform routine and non-routine calibrations using approved procedures, standards, calibration gases, and manufacturer specifications.
• Verify analyzer performance, measurement accuracy, and system functionality through operational testing and validation activities.
• Support startup, shutdown, commissioning, and modification activities involving analyzer systems and associated equipment.
• Monitor analyzer performance and take appropriate action to resolve routine equipment issues and performance concerns.
• Reliability & Technical Support
• Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities on analyzer systems and supporting instrumentation.
• Troubleshoot analyzer, electrical, communication, and sampling system issues to restore equipment reliability and performance.
• Identify potential equipment failures and recommend corrective actions to minimize operational disruptions.
• Assist operations personnel with analyzer-related issues impacting process performance, measurement accuracy, and product quality.
• Coordinate maintenance activities with operations, instrumentation, engineering, and contractor personnel.
• Measurement, Quality & Data Integrity
• Support analyzer systems used for product quality monitoring, process optimization, custody transfer, emissions monitoring, and regulatory compliance.
• Verify measurement accuracy through calibration verification, performance testing, and routine inspection activities.
• Review analyzer data and identify abnormal readings, trends, or performance concerns requiring investigation.
• Support data integrity objectives by maintaining accurate calibration records, maintenance documentation, and test results.
• Assist in verifying compliance with measurement and quality standards.
• Compliance, Safety & Environmental Stewardship
• Perform work in compliance with company policies, operating procedures, environmental requirements, and applicable regulatory standards.
• Follow established permit-to-work processes, lockout/tagout procedures, electrical safety requirements, and safe work practices.
• Participate in safety meetings, audits, inspections, emergency response activities, and incident investigations.
• Identify and report operational hazards, environmental concerns, equipment risks, and compliance issues.
• Support compliance with applicable industry standards and regulatory requirements governing analyzer and measurement systems.
• Documentation & Continuous Improvement
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, calibration reports, work orders, inspection findings, and technical documentation.
• Enter maintenance and analyzer performance data into computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and other operational systems.
• Review maintenance documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with procedural requirements.
• Support process improvement initiatives focused on analyzer reliability, maintenance effectiveness, and operational efficiency.
• Participate in technical training and skills development activities.
• Responsibilities may include Department of Transportation (DOT) covered functions, including operations, maintenance, or emergency response on a pipeline. Job duties also require the employee to be alert and respond immediately to dangerous or hazardous conditions, and where impaired performance, or failure to follow safety precautions, could result in serious injury or property damage.

Education

• High school diploma or GED typically required
• Completion of a technical, vocational, or trade-related training program is a plus
• Associate degree in Instrumentation Technology, Electrical Technology, Electronics Technology, Process Technology, Automation Technology, Engineering Technology, or related technical discipline preferred

Work Experience

• 2+ years of experience in analyzer maintenance, instrumentation, electrical maintenance, industrial maintenance, process operations, or related technical field.
• Experience working with instrumentation, electronics, electrical systems, analytical equipment, or industrial control systems is a plus
• Experience performing equipment inspections, maintenance, troubleshooting, or calibration activities
• Experience supporting process analyzers, gas chromatographs, moisture analyzers, sulfur analyzers, emissions monitoring systems, or related analytical equipment is a plus
• Experience supporting pipeline, terminal, storage, compression, processing, or petrochemical facilities preferred
• Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) preferred
• Experience working in regulated industrial or energy industry environments preferred
• Equivalent industry experience may be considered

Licenses and Certifications

• None required ISA Certified Control Systems Technician (CCST) is a plus
• OSHA safety, HAZWOPER certification is a plus
• Industry-recognized instrumentation, analyzer, electrical, or maintenance certifications preferred
