Job Summary:

Under the supervision of a Licensed Behavior Analyst (LBA), this position is responsible for modeling and carrying out behavior support plans (BSPs), which could include teaching various skill building or behavior reduction techniques with children and young adults.  They will also assist with Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs), collect data and provide training to caregivers so they can ensure follow-through at home. 

Job Overview:

Behavior Technicians provide consistent, one-on-one support to clients in home, clinic, or school settings, typically working with the same client to promote continuity of care and progress. Sessions are generally scheduled for five days per week and last approximately two to three hours per session (but could be up to 4 hours in length).

Technicians follow individualized treatment plans that include structured session activities designed to teach new skills, support goal achievement, and reduce challenging behaviors.

Responsibilities include implementing behavior intervention plans, behavioral strategies, assisting with activities of daily living such as toileting and self-care, engaging clients in therapeutic one-on-one activities, accurately collecting and documenting client data in Central Reach, and completing detailed session notes after each session to monitor progress and ensure quality of care.

Our OLV Evaluation and Treatment Clinic services a wide range of clients in a vast area of Western New York.  Behavior technicians are assigned to clients at the discretion of management and expected to travel to and from client homes which can be anywhere within Erie and surrounding counties.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Provide a positive and nurturing environment for children and their families
  • Assist LBA with the development of FBAs
  • Assist LBA with the creation of BSPs
  • Teach specific skills required for skill acquisition and/or behavior reduction as outlined in the child’s BSP
  • Participate in consultation and meeting sessions
  • Answer questions from children and their families
  • Observe child behaviors to collect data
  • Inform parents and other caregivers about behavioral intervention findings
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

Skills:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of basic principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
  • Natural ability to connect with children and parents
  • Good time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Minimum Education Required:  

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent. 

Minimum Experience Required:  

  • At least 3 years’ experience working with children and families preferred

License/Registration/ Certifications Required:

  • Registered Behavior Technician Certification preferred

Training Requirements: 

  • New Hire Orientation
