Job description

Military Internship Program (SkillBridge)

Northrop Grumman Military Internship Program (NG-MIP) is an approved SkillBridge Program for transitioning service members. The internship lasts up to 180 days during the last 6 months of service, with a 40‑hour workweek and on‑site training at the host company.

Goals – Provide transitioning service members fellowship-style job skills training with potential to transition to a full‑time Northrop Grumman opportunity.

Objectives – Service members who complete the internship will be highly trained, capable future employees aligned to Northrop Grumman’s needs.

Outcome – Offer a rewarding opportunity to join the Northrop Grumman team.

DoD SkillBridge Eligibility
  • Has served at least 180 days on active duty
  • Is within 12 months of separation or retirement
  • Will receive an honorable discharge
  • Has taken any service TAPS/TGPS
  • Has attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 months
  • Received Unit Commander written authorization and approval to participate before the internship starts
Cloud Engineer (Defense Systems)

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems (NGDS) is seeking a Cloud Engineer to maintain and enhance capabilities in support of DAF CLOUDworks at Wright Patterson AFB / Beavercreek, OH. The role spans information security, infrastructure development, and cloud migration, providing technical support for customers leveraging DAF CLOUDworks, operations, and sustainment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and maintain cloud infrastructure in a secure environment
  • Follow Agile development processes and full‑life‑cycle development
  • Interface with geographically dispersed teams and communicate project status and blockers
  • Contribute to technical documentation and site‑specific design decisions
Basic Qualifications
  • Active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain TS/SCI
  • Bachelor’s degree in science with 2 years experience, master’s degree with no experience, or 6 years experience in lieu of degree
  • Meets DoD SkillBridge qualifications per DODI 1322.29
  • Ability to contribute to development of technical documentation
  • Knowledge of full software lifecycle and agile development methodologies
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, ability to operate in a team
  • Highly motivated, self‑learner, team player, technically inquisitive
  • Ability to obtain IAT Level II certification (e.g., CASP+, Security+) within 60 days of start
Preferred Qualifications
  • Completing or completed a bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD from an accredited institution
  • Major or major in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) degree
  • Knowledge of cloud‑based technologies (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud); certification is a plus
  • Proficiency in Python and object‑oriented design and programming
  • Experience with Open Container Initiative (OCI) containerized application development (Docker, Podman)
  • Familiarity with container orchestration tools (Kubernetes, Helm, Flux)
  • Knowledge of Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket)
  • Experience leveraging Git for code management

Primary Level Salary Range: $79,300.00 – $118,900.00. Salary determined by scope, responsibilities, and candidate factors.

Employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonuses. Northrop Grumman offers health insurance, life and disability insurance, savings plan, paid holidays, and paid time off.
