    Content Strategist - Digital Experience & Web Content

    Location: Brooklyn (Hybrid - 3 days onsite / 2 days remote)
    Duration: 1 Year

    Job Summary

    We are seeking an experienced Content Strategist to support a large-scale digital redesign initiative focused on improving public-facing web experiences. This role is ideal for a creative and analytical professional who can transform complex information into clear, user-friendly content for broad audiences.

    The ideal candidate will have expertise in content strategy, information architecture, web copywriting, user-focused content design, and stakeholder collaboration.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Develop content requirements, content outlines, and user-focused guided experiences.
    • Write clear, compelling, and plain-language web copy aligned with established style guidelines.
    • Conduct interviews with subject matter experts to gather and simplify complex information.
    • Audit and inventory existing website content, features, and functionality.
    • Analyze user behavior and engagement metrics using Google Analytics.
    • Research policies, laws, and operational processes to support accurate content development.
    • Deliver high-quality content deliverables within strict project timelines.
    • Conduct content quality assurance reviews and provide feedback to other teams.
    • Track and report on key performance indicators related to content performance.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, product, legal, policy, and leadership stakeholders.
    Required Qualifications
    • 8+ years of experience as a Content Strategist, Editorial Strategist, Information Architect, or similar role.
    • Strong copywriting and editing skills with portfolio samples available.
    • Experience writing according to formal style guides.
    • Strong research and analytical skills.
    • Experience conducting stakeholder interviews and facilitating meetings.
    • Project management and self-management experience in deadline-driven environments.
    • Working knowledge of Google Analytics and web traffic reporting.
    • Experience using user research and behavioral insights to guide content decisions.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Digital Media, Creative Writing, or related field.
    • Experience working within government, nonprofit, or higher education environments.
    • Experience writing in plain language at a sub-7th grade reading level.
    • Experience with modern Content Management Systems (CMS).
    • Experience navigating complex review and approval workflows.
    • Familiarity with New York City communities and public service environments.
