Job description

Production Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining machinery in a manufacturing environment to ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality production.


Key Responsibilities:

Machine Setup and Operation: Prepare and operate production machinery according to specifications, ensuring smooth workflow and adherence to production schedules.

Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Perform routine maintenance, identify mechanical issues, and correct faults to prevent downtime.

Quality Control: Monitor output for defects, conduct inspections, and ensure products meet quality standards.

Production Support: Facilitate changeovers, maintain adequate materials for shifts, and assist in continuous improvement initiatives.

Safety Compliance: Follow safety protocols, use personal protective equipment, and report hazards to maintain a safe work environment.

Documentation: Record production data, maintain logs, and report issues to supervisors.

Team Collaboration: Work closely with co-workers, maintenance staff, and supervisors to optimize production efficiency.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent; Must be able to speak and read English demonstrated by the ability to understand and carry out instructions correctly, comprehend basic math such as units, dimensions and numerical sequences.


Technical Skills: Mechanical aptitude, ability to read job travelers and specifications, familiarity with machinery operation.

Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods, and work in fast-paced environments. Lift up to 35 lbs.

Attention to Detail: Ensuring precision in production and adherence to quality standards.

Teamwork and Communication: Effective collaboration and clear communication with team members and supervisors

Work Environment:

Noisy, can be very hot in the summer and cold in the winter months

Requires personal protective equipment and adherence to safety regulations.

May involve overtime depending on production demands.

Reporting Structure:

Reports to a Production Manager, Shift Supervisor, or Line Supervisor.

Career Advancement:

Opportunities exist to advance into supervisory roles, specialized machinery operation, maintenance technician positions, or quality control roles with experience and additional training.
