Job description

Role Overview
The Material Operations Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating receiving, inventory control, and material handling activities to ensure efficient and accurate material flow supporting production operations. This role oversees daily warehouse and receiving functions, ensures compliance with established procedures, and leads a team to maintain inventory accuracy, FIFO compliance, and timely material support to production lines. The position works closely with cross-functional teams to resolve material issues and support stable manufacturing operations
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (To perform within this position successfully, the incumbent must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.)
  • Supervise receiving and material handling operations, ensuring incoming materials are received, inspected, counted, labeled, stored, and distributed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Verify DMR/RMA reports, packing slips, POD documentation, and maintain related logs and records.
  • Manage processes for free-of-charge samples, returns to vendor, quality-issue parts, and in-and-out sample tracking.
  • Monitor OS&D (Over, Short, and Damage) processes, follow up on discrepancies, and report logistics and material handling issues.
  • Coordinate with clerical staff on purchase order processing, documentation, and record maintenance.
  • Communicate and collaborate with receiving clerks, material handlers, and cross-functional teams to resolve daily operational issues.
  • Oversee outsourced warehouse inventory activities when applicable.
  • Perform or support incoming material counting, inspection, sorting, unpacking, repacking, and corrective actions as needed.
  • Lead inventory accuracy initiatives including cycle counting, variance analysis, corrective action implementation, and physical inventory execution.
  • Analyze and report root causes of daily and periodic inventory variances.
  • Monitor FIFO compliance, high-rack inventory accuracy, and production feeding processes.
  • Manage production line material feeding and ensure proper use of logistics equipment such as PDAs, pallet jacks, forklifts, and other material handling devices.
  • Supervise incoming material management for LP and CKD suppliers.
  • Ensure materials are safely handled, stored, and transported in compliance with plant safety and quality standards.

AUTHORITY & SCOPE
This role operates within defined corporate policies and procedures and exercises judgment appropriate to its level of responsibility. The position may influence decisions related to functional operations, processes, or recommendations and escalate matters as required
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Directly supervises receiving and warehouse personnel.
  • Evaluates performance, provides coaching and training, and supports employee development.
  • Enforces work standards, safety requirements, and operational procedures.

Qualifications (The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required and preferred for this position.)
Required Education & Experience:
  • 5+ years of hands-on leadership experience in warehouse operations, material handling, inventory control, or production support.
  • 4+ years of supervisory or lead experience in warehousing, logistics, distribution, or manufacturing environments.
  • Experience in automotive assembly or manufacturing operations.
  • Hands-on experience with warehouse operations and material handling.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach, and evaluate staff performance.
  • Comprehensive understanding of receiving, inventory control, cycle counting, FIFO, and production feeding processes.
  • Working knowledge of SAP (PP/MM/SD modules) and MES systems.
  • Proficiency with inventory tracking systems, data entry, and material control software.
  • Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills across plant operations.
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, across all organizational levels.
  • Ability to operate warehouse equipment including sit-down and stand-up forklifts, tuggers, pallet jacks, and related devices.
  • Physically able to lift up to 50 pounds and support floor-based operational activities as required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration or a related field.
  • Experience in Just-In-Time (JIT) and automotive logistics environments.
  • Prior experience supporting or serving as back-up to logistics or material management leadership roles.
  • Experience working within Hyundai, Kia, or MOBIS operational environments.

Working Conditions: This position is office-based, and requires frequent and regular standing/walking; occasional lifting up to 35 lbs. Walking and operating around machinery, PIT, ESD-sensitive components, and chemicals with appropriate PPE.
