About Our Client

Our client is an established North American construction company with more than 30 years of experience delivering multifamily, commercial, institutional, and light industrial projects across Canada and the United States. The company has completed over 12,000 residential units, along with schools, office buildings, retail centres, and mixed-use developments. Known for its collaborative approach, they provided expertise in value engineering, cost-efficient design, and quality construction, working closely with clients and project stakeholders from concept through completion.

Job Description
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for construction projects.
  • Lead the bidding process, including reviewing tender documents and ensuring compliance with requirements.
  • Collaborate with project managers and engineers to assess project needs and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Analyze subcontractor and supplier proposals to ensure alignment with project specifications.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market pricing and construction trends.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Ensure all estimates are prepared accurately and submitted within deadlines.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior estimators on the team.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Chief Estimator should have:

  • Proven experience in construction estimation operating in this executive level capacity.
  • Experience leading and building estimating teams.
  • Strong knowledge of cost estimation tools, software and methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Completed multiple full cycle large ground-up projects in ICI.
  • Strong experience with negotiated work, not solely hard-bid/tender work.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective stakeholder collaboration.
  • Strong client-facing and relationship management skills
  • Leadership experience to mentor and guide a team of estimators.
