Job Description

The MEP Manager will be responsible for:

  • Lead all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection (MEPF) activities throughout the project lifecycle, from preconstruction through commissioning and turnover.
  • Manage the procurement and delivery of major MEPF equipment, ensuring alignment with project schedules, budgets, and technical requirements.
  • Drive MEP coordination efforts between design teams, subcontractors, vendors, and field operations to ensure successful project execution.
  • Partner with Project Managers and Superintendents to develop and maintain installation schedules, sequencing plans, and milestone commitments.
  • Review construction documents, specifications, and subcontractor scopes to identify potential gaps, conflicts, and opportunities for optimization.
  • Oversee the RFI, submittal, and shop drawing process for all MEPF disciplines to ensure timely approvals and project progression.
  • Lead weekly coordination meetings with project teams, consultants, and trade partners to proactively address issues and maintain momentum.
  • Monitor MEP budgets, forecasts, and cost exposures, identifying risks and implementing mitigation strategies to protect project financial performance.
  • Ensure all MEPF installations meet contract requirements, quality standards, and owner expectations.
  • Collaborate with commissioning agents, design consultants, and operations teams to support system startup, testing, balancing, and certification activities.
  • Manage turnover activities including O&M manuals, as-built documentation, owner training, and warranty coordination.
  • Coordinate critical shutdowns, energization procedures, and system integrations while minimizing impacts to project schedules and operations.
  • Establish and enforce MEP-specific QA/QC processes to ensure high-quality workmanship and system reliability.
  • Leverage BIM, project management software, and construction technologies to improve coordination, reporting, and issue resolution.
  • Identify and implement innovative solutions, value engineering opportunities, and industry best practices to enhance project outcomes.
  • Support project teams in resolving complex technical issues related to building systems, constructability, and design intent.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and key stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
  • Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement across all MEP-related project activities.
  • Mentor project engineers and field personnel on MEP systems, coordination practices, and construction best practices.
  • Provide regular project status updates to leadership, highlighting progress, risks, and key decision points.
  • Drive successful delivery of mission-critical systems while maintaining project schedule, budget, quality, and safety goals.

The Successful Applicant

The successful MEP MAnager will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience managing MEP scopes on large-scale commercial construction projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex MEPF systems on missioncritical or highdensity projects such as data centers, healthcare facilities, laboratories, or large tech builds.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC, electrical distribution, plumbing, fire protection, and controls systems, including integration across disciplines.
  • Proven experience leading BIMdriven coordination, clash detection, and constructability reviews.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, oneline diagrams, sequence of operations, and commissioning scripts.
  • Strong financial acumen, with experience tracking MEP budgets, forecasting cost exposure, and evaluating change orders.
  • Excellent stakeholdermanagement skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with owners, design teams, trade partners, and internal project teams.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple system packages, deadlines, and deliverables in a fastpaced construction environment.
  • Deep understanding of commissioning processes, testing requirements, and turnover documentation for missioncritical systems.
  • Strong organizational skills with a detailoriented mindset, ensuring accuracy in submittals, logs, RFIs, and field documentation.
  • Experience conducting technical presentations, leading coordination meetings, and communicating complex MEP concepts to nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Ability to proactively identify constructability issues, design conflicts, and installation challenges before they impact schedule.
  • Familiarity with energyefficient design strategies, sustainability practices, and modern building technologies.
  • Ability to mentor junior engineers or project staff, contributing to team development and departmental growth.
