Title : Resident Engineer

Location : Basking Ridge, NJ- 2 days a week onsite

Duration : 12 months

Rate : $60 to $65 hr on w2

Added info: need "we need to have this person good a day-0 hardware buildout (rack, build and cable), day-0 configuration (management IPs to get it off the ground), day-1 OS installation (build out OpenShift) and day-2 working with the solution that was built."

Job Summary: We are seeking a dynamic and versatile Resident Engineer to design, test, and implement product solutions integrated into public and private Multi-Access Edge Computing (MEC) environments. The ideal candidate will develop and automate custom software solutions, optimize MEC resource utilization, and support the OpenShift ecosystem. They should be a quick thinker, creatively driven, and able to troubleshoot and implement resilient systems efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design and Implementation:
  2. Develop product solutions for both public and private MEC environments.
  3. Architect designs focusing on redundancy, resource optimization, and integration with OpenShift.
  4. Create automated software solutions for MEC configuration deployments, system updates, and monitoring.
  5. Automation and Optimization:
  6. Automate processes to ensure efficient configuration, system updates, and proactive monitoring.
  7. Implement health monitoring (active and passive) and provide informed troubleshooting recommendations based on system analysis.
  8. Collaboration and Support:
  9. Work closely with internal teams to implement robust MEC solutions.
  10. Engage in system health monitoring, software update analysis, and provide actionable insights for system improvements Required Skills and Experience:
  • Versatile Problem Solver: Ability to think on the fly, adapt to various technical challenges, and be resourceful across multiple domains.
  • Linux Proficiency: Strong Linux administration skills; familiarity with Red Hat, OpenShift, OpenStack, and Kubernetes. Experience with VMware is a plus.
  • Cloud and Virtualization: Expertise in cloud technologies and virtualization.
  • Networking Knowledge: Understanding of network infrastructures and their optimization.
  • Data Science & AI: Experience or hands-on exposure to data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence is a plus
  • Data Analytics: Ability to analyze and leverage data to optimize processes.
  • Physical Engagement: Open to participating in physical activities required by the team and project tasks.
  • Creative Thinker: A "mad scientist" mindset; someone passionate, innovative, and highly conversational. A passion for technology and a creative approach to problem-solving.
