Loft Orbital Jobs Information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Program Manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Program Manager, you need expertise in project planning, resource allocation, risk management, and a solid understanding of program life cycles, often supported by a bachelor's degree and experience in project or program management. Familiarity with tools like Microsoft Project, Jira, and certifications such as PMP or PgMP is typically required. Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills help in coordinating cross-functional teams and managing stakeholder expectations. These skills ensure that complex programs are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with organizational goals.

How does a Program Manager typically collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals?

Program Managers work closely with cross-functional teams such as engineering, marketing, finance, and operations to align project objectives with organizational strategy. They facilitate communication, coordinate resources, and manage dependencies across teams to ensure milestones are met on schedule. Regular meetings, status updates, and transparent documentation are key practices, helping to address challenges proactively and keep everyone on track. This collaborative approach not only drives program success but also builds strong professional relationships across the organization.

What is program management?

Program management is the coordinated oversight and management of multiple related projects that align with an organization's strategic objectives. Program managers ensure that projects within a program are executed efficiently, risks are managed, and benefits are realized. They focus on aligning project outcomes with business goals, optimizing resources, and communicating progress to stakeholders. Unlike project managers, who handle individual projects, program managers oversee a collection of projects to deliver greater value.

What is the difference between Program Management vs Project Management?

AspectProgram ManagementProject Management
FocusOversees multiple related projects to achieve strategic objectivesManages individual projects to meet specific goals
ScopeBroader, involving multiple projects and stakeholdersNarrower, focused on specific deliverables
ResponsibilitiesAligns projects with organizational strategy, manages interdependenciesPlans, executes, and closes individual projects

While both roles require strong organizational and leadership skills, program management focuses on coordinating multiple projects to achieve strategic goals, whereas project management concentrates on delivering specific project outcomes efficiently.

    Job description

    Wanna join the adventure?

As Loft's Senior Director, Business Development in the US, you will play a pivotal role in our growth strategy across the Americas. You will be responsible for driving customer acquisition and strategic partnerships across the Americas commercial ecosystem—spanning Earth observation, IoT, edge computing, technology demonstration, and beyond.

This is a high-impact role for a business development leader who combines a deep understanding of the Americas space landscape with a passion for shaping new models of space infrastructure-as-a-service.
    About this Role:
    • Build and grow a pipeline of commercial customers across the Americas, with particular focus on the U.S. market.
    • Cultivate long-term relationships with key stakeholders across commercial operators, integrators, and technology companies deploying payloads on Loft's infrastructure.
    • Identify and negotiate strategic partnerships that accelerate Loft's ability to deliver space infrastructure-as-a-service at scale.
    • Shape go-to-market strategy, collaborating with Loft's global BD team to localize and sharpen positioning for the Americas market.
    • Influence Loft's product roadmap by working closely with technical and product teams to ensure customer requirements inform platform development.
    • Attend and speak at U.S. and Americas space industry events, supporting Loft's brand presence across the region.
    Must Haves:
    • 10+ years of sales, business development, or strategic partnerships experience in the commercial space sector, with a strong track record selling to commercial customers.
    • Demonstrated success capturing new business across the U.S. commercial space landscape, including managing complex sales cycles and building lasting customer relationships.
    • Experience selling complex technical solutions in space or adjacent technology sectors.
    • Experience leading and/or contributing to proposals and contract negotiations.
    • Strong knowledge of space systems—satellite subsystems, launch, mission design—sufficient to earn the trust of technical buyers.
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; able to represent Loft credibly.
    • Passion for the space industry and a drive to be part of a fast-paced, mission-driven team.
    Nice to Haves
    • Established commercial network across Earth observation, communications, IoT, and/or technology demonstration segments in the U.S. and broader Americas.
    • Relationships within the U.S. civil space ecosystem (NASA, NOAA, FFRDCs, national labs, major primes).
    • Experience winning proposals for spacecraft development programs.
    • Fluency in additional languages (Spanish, Portuguese, or European languages a plus)
    • Willingness to travel for customer meetings, conferences, and industry events.
