Job description

The primary duties of this position include successful leadership of multiple projects and key client relationships for projects in our Energy, Transmission and Distribution group
• YMC is seeking a Project Controls Specialist to support key client relationships and projects for the Energy, Transmission and Distribution
• The Project Controls Specialist will be responsible for scheduling activities and planning including concepts and principles that effect financial performance
• Project Controls Specialist will support all aspects of scheduling throughout the project life cycle
• The Project Controls Specialist is responsible for establishing and maintaining a professional and satisfactory relationship with the Owner, subcontractors, regulatory agencies and other project stakeholders.
Specific Responsibilities
• Develop, maintain, and monitor detailed project schedules for energy, transmission, and distribution projects across all project phases
• Lead preparation of project execution plans, schedule updates, progress reports, and change management documentation
• Analyze schedule performance, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions to maintain project timelines
• Support development of Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and integrate scheduling with procurement, engineering, and financial systems
• Incorporate approved change orders, scope adjustments, and schedule impacts into baseline schedules
• Apply advanced scheduling concepts, including resource loading, cost loading, critical path analysis, float management, and earned value techniques
• Facilitate schedule review and change order meetings with internal teams and stakeholders
• Coordinate with owners, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure alignment on project timelines and deliverables
• Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with project controls procedures, contract terms, and reporting standards
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, business, or a related field
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in project controls, scheduling, and cost tracking, preferably within the utility or infrastructure sectors
• Strong proficiency in scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) and Microsoft Office applications
• Solid understanding of project lifecycle phases, WBS development, and earned value management
• Familiarity with contract terms and their impact on schedule and deliverables
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present data clearly to stakeholders
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines
