LA28 is the independent, non-profit, privately funded organizing committee for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The 2028 Games mark the return of the Summer Games to the U.S. for the first time in 32 years and Los Angeles' third time hosting an Olympic Games and first time welcoming the Paralympic Games. This presents the unique and exciting opportunity to celebrate our legacy with the Games and push the Olympic and Paralympic Movements forward, writing a new chapter of Games history in Los Angeles.

Associate, Sport Schedules & Services

Position Summary 

The Associate, Sport Schedules & Services will play a fundamental role in the detailed planning of the Games. This role will work within the broader Sport team in close collaboration with the individual Sport Managers to progress planning deliverables, including but not limited to detailed competition and training schedules and related contingency plans, sport entries, and weather services. They will also be expected to support centralized business administration functions for the Sport team, like the contracting process with external entities. They will report to the Senior Manager, Sport Schedules & Services. 

The role will be expected to collaborate within the Sport department as well as with other LA28 Sport and Games DeliveryandGames Services functional areas. As well,the Associate may coordinate withexternal partners such as theInternational Federations, Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS),Omega,International Olympic Committee (IOC),International Paralympic Committee (IPC), and weather services partner.  

Key Responsibilities 

Sport Services& Partner Integration 

  • Support the development and validation of all Sport schedules, including Training and DetailedCompetitionActivitiesSchedule(DCAS)across all Olympic and Paralympic sports, including management of the central Schedule Management Application 

  • Partner with theSport Presentation and Victory Ceremonies teamson the implementationand timingof sport-specificactivities into theDCAS 

  • Ensure the competition and training schedules project and outputs have visibilitybothwithin the organization for coordinated andaccurateplanning by all Functionsand with key Delivery Partners (e.g., Omega, OBS, Public Transit partners) 

  • Support the development of Sport policies, procedures and contingency plans for Games-time that areimpactedand/or influenced by Sport schedules and weather services, including the joint IOC/IPC Delay, Postponement, Advancement and Cancellation policy (DIPAC) 

  • Produce necessary planning documentation (e.g., competition schedules) and communications for weather services provider to advance detailed planning assumptions and coordinate delivery efforts 

  • Support the sport entries project,supporting cross-functional integration, operating plans,and project management of key deliverables in lockstep with the IOC 

Sport Planning,Program Management & Function Reporting 

  • Point of entry in Sport for other LA28 Functions to request sport function informationwithin scopefor planning purposes 

  • As required, represent Sport in cross-functional planning forums, ensuring there is a clear understanding of deliverables and addressing the unique requirements within the diverse range of Olympic and Paralympic sports in the program 

  • Support the development of Sport presentationsand reports to be used internally and externally to communicate progress and issues within the Sport department and to Sport Stakeholders 

  • Validate and update key sport information within the LA28Games Demand Modeland other source of truth documents 

Background and Requirements 

  • 2-3 years' experience in stakeholder and project management, ideally in the sports industry 

  • Bachelor's degree required 

  • Extremely detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills 

  • Experience working across multiple workstreamsand project deliverables at one time 

  • Comfortability and experience managing and dealing with rapid change 

  • Well-developed problem-solving skills and ability to work both independently and across teams to resolve issuesand produce deliverables 

  • Self-starter with experience in defining tasks, seekingfeedbackand evolving work 

  • Required proven ability of building good interpersonal relationships with people across the organization 

  • Fluent working with Office suite products including Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions 

  • The position is in Los Angeles with in-person attendancerequired 

  • The majority ofwork may be conducted in an office setting, requiring extended periods of time using computers, phones, and other office equipment 

  • The LA28 office is an open floorplan working environment; employees must be able to work efficiently in an open cubicle environment 

Expectations 

  • Ideal candidate will have knowledge of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Movements, as well as a background in sport and/or event management 

  • Exceptional communication, teambuildingand interpersonal skills

The annual base salary range for this position is $70,500.00 - $82,000.00. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28's operational business needs and applicable law. 

LA28 does not provide relocation assistance.
