Job description

Job Title- Workday Configuration Lead (Backfill role)

Project Location – Hybrid 2 days onsite in a week, Tysons Corner VA

Duration- 12+ months contract

Visa- USC/ GC

Job Description-:  We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Workday Configuration Lead to oversee the design, development, and optimization of Workday modules across our organization. This role will serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for Workday configuration, ensuring alignment with business goals and compliance requirements. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Workday HCM and/or Payroll, with strong analytical skills, and a collaborative mindset.

The unique responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to the essential functions listed below:

  • Lead the configuration and maintenance of Workday modules (e.g., HCM, Compensation, Benefits, Absence, Time Tracking, and/or Payroll).
  • Set up business processes, security roles, and organizational structures.
  • Create and execute test plans to ensure configurations work as expected.
  • Assist with data migration and integration from legacy systems by serving as the SME for Workday fields and data use.
  • Collaborate with HR, Payroll, and IT stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into scalable Workday solutions.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Workday configuration issues and enhancements.
  • Ensure data integrity, system security, and compliance with internal and external policies.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for configuration processes, workflows, and system changes.
  • Support Workday releases by evaluating new features, performing impact analysis, and implementing updates.
  • Mentor junior Workday analysts and provide guidance on best practices.
  • Partner with vendors and consultants as needed for system upgrades or complex projects.

 Experience and Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed throughout this job description are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required.

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • At least seven (7) years of experience with Workday configuration, including at least three (3) years in a lead or senior role.
  • Hands-on experience with three (3) or more Workday modules (e.g., Core HCM, Compensation, Benefits, Absence, Time, Payroll).
  • Strong understanding of Workday business processes, security, and reporting.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.

 Preferred:

  • Workday Pro Certification or equivalent Workday Partner certification.
  • Experience with Workday Studio, EIBs, or Workday Extend.
  • Familiarity with Agile or other project management methodologies
  • Experience building custom reports and dashboards using Workday’s reporting tools.
