Job description

The Associate Underwriter reviews, markets and prices for new and renewal applications, endorsements, and related documents within company/agency granted authority. The Associate will support underwriters and agents to ensure delivery, follow-up and servicing requirements of all new business and renewal accounts.

This position will be an in-office role in our office in Red Bank, NJ. 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop the ability to perform risk selection and analysis by examining and evaluating documents such as application forms, inspections reports, financial reports, product brochures, company referral agreements, and other pertinent documents to determine the degree of risk, underwriting and market selection.
  • Build relationships with agents through in-house placement of new business.
  • Effectively communicate with agent or broker clients, company underwriters, internal staff and management to obtain additional information, quote rates, as well as servicing existing accounts.
  • Connect with carrier underwriters to assist in learning coverage, guidelines, and technology.
  • Maintain renewal book of business/premium as required.
  • Address assigned workload within quality, productivity and service standards as established by the company/underwriting guidelines.
  • Appropriate and timely response to questions posed by brokers, clients, underwriters and other company personnel.
  • Special projects as needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • 2-5 years of similar related job experience in the insurance industry.
  • Functional knowledge of product offerings, insurance concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Strong communication skills and drive for customer excellence.
  • This role will be an In-Office position. 

The base salary offered for the successful candidate will be based on compensable factors such as job-relevant education, job-relevant experience, training, licensure, demonstrated competencies, geographic location, and other factors.  Discretionary incentive compensation may be awarded.
