What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Business Development professional, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Business Development professional, you need strong market research skills, sales acumen, networking ability, and typically a degree in business or a related field. Familiarity with CRM software, data analysis tools, and lead generation platforms is often required. Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills help you stand out in this role. They must adapt strategies to fit cultural differences and market dynamics, which may require additional research and flexible thinking. Collaborating with local teams, leveraging existing networks, and staying updated on market trends can help overcome these obstacles and pave the way for successful market entry.

Their role is crucial for helping companies find new opportunities and stay competitive in the market.

And we're proud to share we've received our Great Place to Work Certification for 2022!

About User Experience & Human Factors (UX & HF):

UX & HF covers all aspects of the end-user's interaction with a company, and its products. UX & HF research is at the heart of user-centered design, which is based on the notion that design should be informed by research about users, their expectations, their activities, and their interactions with products. Ipsos believes that as part of a user-centered design process, every design decision should be informed in part by UX & HF research. Moreover, Ipsos believes that simply conducting evaluative UX & HF research on completed designs is not as effective as conducting UX & HF research throughout the process.

What makes this role important at Ipsos?

The Vice President of UX & HF is a senior research and leadership position responsible for developing a UX & HF team and building partnership relationships with internal Ipsos groups and clients. The UX & HF VP is responsible for a specific area of focus for business development based on geography and/or a specific practice area and market demand. This role will specifically support research within the regulated environment

What you can expect to be doing:

The Vice President of UX & HF is responsible for growing the business within Ipsos and creating thought pieces by evangelizing UX & HF to Client Officers and Service Line Leads.

  • Sell UX & HF design and research work to clients by leveraging network, global Ipsos contacts, and existing client accounts.
  • Develop Ipsos' UX & HF products and value proposition to grow Ipsos UX & HF into the leading global UX & HF agency.
  • Manage, mentor, and coach consultants (UX & HF research and design), providing both informal and formal feedback in a motivating and supportive manner.
  • Provide account management and oversight of multiple projects throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Review project team's work to ensure consistency, high quality, and the delivery of meaningful user experiences. Also, to ensure alignment with the FDA and industry guidance on conducting human factors research.
  • Create a unified vision for UX & HF solutions that bases design ideas on research and bases research recommendations on design principles.

This might be the job for you if you have:

  • Bachelor's degree in human factors, HCI, Psychology, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Design, Visual Design, Behavioral Sciences or equivalent experience is required (Master's degree or higher preferred).
  • 7 years of conducting UX & HF research or design is required (At least 10 years preferred).
  • At least 5 years of leading interdisciplinary UX & HF teams by inspiring passion, dedication, and amazing work from all team members.
  • In-depth knowledge of:
    • UX & HF design principles and current user research and design methodologies.
    • Industry and guidance best practices for conducting human factors research (e.g., FDA guidance, ANSI/AAMI HE75, IEC 62366-1:2015)
    • Experience leading complex research programs within highly regulated environments (e.g., Med Device, Aerospace, Automotive)
  • Record of using engaging presentation and written communication skills with senior clients.
  • Record of developing strategic sales with corporate clients.
  • Live in or close to Chicago (ideal) to be near our state-of-the-art Ipsos User Experience Lab.
  • Comfortable operating in fast-paced environment and working with international teams.

If you don't meet 100% of the requirements, we encourage all who feel they might be a fit for the opportunity to apply. We may consider a variety of backgrounds for a particular role and are also committed to considering candidates for available positions throughout our organization, not just the one you're applying to!

In accordance with NY/CO/CA/WA law, the estimated base salary range for this role is $ 165,000 - $175,000. Your final base salary will be determined based on several non-discriminatory factors which may include but are not limited to location, work experience, skills, knowledge, education and/or certifications.
