    Job Summary
    The Systems Engineering Test Technician III is a key member of the Systems Test Automation Engineering team, working alongside a group of highly skilled technicians to support Insulet's product development and verification activities through the execution of engineering tests, accurate data collection, and thorough documentation. Working closely with the Systems Test Automation Engineering team, this position ensures test readiness, supports large-scale mobile application testing operations, troubleshoots software and test system issues, and contributes to regulated product development efforts. The role requires excellent communication skills, strong technical and analytical problem-solving skills, hands-on experience with Python scripting for test automation, data analysis, and reporting, and the ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance testing efficiency and quality. Successful candidates demonstrate the ability to support major technical projects, mentor junior team members, manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, and communicate effectively across cross-functional teams. Candidates should possess at least 8 years of relevant technical experience, with medical device, life sciences, or other regulated industry experience preferred.

    Position Overview:
    The Systems Engineering Test Technician III supports the development, verification, and maintenance of Insulet products through laboratory operations, test execution, equipment management, and technical process support. Operating as a high-level support member within the technician team, this role partners closely with Systems Test Automation Engineering and cross-functional R&D teams to ensure efficient test readiness, accurate data collection, asset accountability, and continuous improvement of laboratory processes. As a key contributor to the team, the technician drives engineering projects, device evaluations, and lab infrastructure supporting both sustaining operations and new product development activities.
    Responsibilities:
    • Test Execution & Automation Support: Execute engineering, verification, and reliability testing activities, leveraging Python scripting to automate test steps, streamline data acquisition, and support large-scale mobile application test setups.
    • Test System Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and test environment issues across complex test systems to maintain high uptime and operational readiness.
    • Data Analysis & Documentation: Collect, process, and analyze test output data using standard technical tools and Python, documenting all findings accurately according to Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and regulated medical device standards (21 CFR Part 820 / ISO 13485).
    • Test Environment Readiness & Configuration: Configure and maintain test benches, fixtures, and software/cloud test environments to support continuous, large-scale software and mobile application testing.
    • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Systems Test Automation Engineers and R&D teams to identify root causes, improve test workflows, and communicate technical findings clearly across disciplines.
    • Lab Infrastructure & Quality Support: Maintain lab equipment, test assets, and database tools, while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives for lab workflows, test infrastructure, and compliance.
    • Technical Guidance & Mentorship: Serve as a technical resource by mentoring junior technicians, providing guidance on laboratory processes, test protocols, and best engineering practices.
    • Schedule Flexibility & Milestone Delivery: Maintain high availability to work late hours, overtime, and weekends as needed to ensure critical test execution, regulatory deadlines, and key project milestones are successfully met.

    Basic Qualification:
    • High School Diploma or GED.

    • At least 8 years of laboratory, engineering technician, manufacturing engineering, systems engineering, or related technical experience.

    • Hands-on experience with Python scripting for test automation, data analysis, and reporting

    • Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel etc.) & technical writing capabilities

    Preferred:
    • Experience related to Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, or related field.

    • Self-driven, efficient learner and able to perform in a dynamic work environment.

    • Medical device, life sciences, or regulated industry experience.

    • Experience supporting software, hardware, and systems-level testing.

    Physical Requirements (when applicable):
    • Must be able to lift up to 20lbs regularly

    • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs infrequently

    • Must be able to reach over head

    • Must be able to monitor computer screens over extended time

    • Sitting or standing for periods of time
