Location: Cincinnati, OH (Onsite)
Salary: USD $115,000 – $130,000 / yr

Job Summary

The Food Safety & Quality Assurance (FSQA) Manager is responsible for leading all food safety, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance activities within a food manufacturing facility. This role ensures compliance with company policies, HACCP, USDA/FDA regulations, GMP, SSOP, and food safety standards while driving continuous improvement in product quality and operational excellence. The FSQA Manager leads and develops the FSQA team, oversees food safety programs, supports customer audits, and partners with production to maintain the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the daily operations of the Food Safety & Quality Assurance department.
Supervise, mentor, and develop FSQA Supervisors and Technicians while managing staffing, scheduling, and performance.
Ensure compliance with Tyson's food safety, quality, and regulatory standards, including HACCP, HARPC, GMP, SSOP, USDA, and FDA requirements.
Develop, implement, maintain, and continuously improve food safety and quality management systems.
Monitor production processes from raw material receiving through finished product to ensure compliance with food safety and quality specifications.
Oversee sanitation programs, including pre-operational and operational inspections.
Investigate customer complaints, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Conduct internal audits, monitor analytical testing, and communicate quality metrics to plant leadership and corporate teams.
Support new product commercialization by ensuring food safety and quality requirements are met.
Serve as the primary liaison for USDA/FDA inspections, customer audits, and regulatory agencies.
Ensure accurate product labeling and compliance with customer specifications.
Manage departmental budgets, safety initiatives, and continuous improvement projects.
 
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Quality Assurance, or a related field preferred.
Minimum 5 years of Food Safety & Quality Assurance experience in a food manufacturing environment.
Required experience in Ready-to-Eat (RTE) food manufacturing.
Strong leadership experience managing and developing FSQA teams.
Working knowledge of HACCP, HARPC, USDA, FDA, GMP, and SSOP regulations.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and manufacturing systems such as SAP or similar ERP systems.
Ability to work independently while collaborating across production, operations, R&D, and corporate teams.
 
Preferred Qualifications
HACCP Certification.
Experience with Child Nutrition and USDA Commodity Programs.
Previous supervisory or management experience in food manufacturing.
Experience supporting customer and regulatory audits.
Physical Requirements
Lift up to 75 lbs.
Stand for up to 12 hours on hard surfaces.
Work in hot, cold (30°F–90°F), and wet manufacturing environments.
Perform repetitive bending, reaching, squatting, pushing, pulling, and climbing stairs or ladders.
Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed.
Willingness to obtain Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) Certification.
