We're looking for a detail-oriented Cost Controls Analyst to support a fast-paced portfolio of capital projects by ensuring financial accuracy, maintaining cost controls, and supporting project accounting activities throughout the project lifecycle. In this role, you'll partner with project teams and finance professionals to analyze costs, reconcile financial data, process high-volume billings and invoices, and help keep projects on budget and on track.

Job Functions & Responsibilities

• Support portfolio cost control activities by monitoring project expenditures, preparing journal entries, performing interest calculations, and producing cost and financial reports.
• Prepare and process high-volume monthly billings and invoices using SAP, Primavera, and other project management tools.
• Perform project and portfolio reconciliations, including budget-to-actual variance analysis, and investigate and resolve financial discrepancies.
• Manage project closeout activities by completing final reconciliations, cost recovery efforts, and closeout documentation.
• Maintain accurate billing records and assist in resolving billing questions and payment issues for internal and external stakeholders.
• Process accounts payable invoices, review purchase orders for accuracy and funding availability, and coordinate funding requests as needed.
• Prepare and support monthly financial reporting, budget tracking, forecasting, and cost monitoring activities.
• Maintain project financial records, including billing information, payment history, and labor hour tracking across multiple systems.
• Review budget requests for compliance with approved contracts and purchase orders and assist with monthly accrual reporting.
• Support process improvements, system implementations, and departmental workflow enhancements to increase efficiency and financial accuracy.

Qualifications & Skills

• Experience in cost controls, project accounting, billing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, or a related finance function.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret financial information and identify discrepancies.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and financial data analysis.
• Experience with SAP, Primavera P6, or similar ERP and project management systems.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Teams, PDF software, and Procore is preferred.
• Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with a collaborative, customer-focused approach.
• Experience in construction industry

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
