Job description

Position Summary:
The Transportation Safety & Compliance Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and supporting all transportation safety programs, regulatory compliance, and driver eligibility requirements within the transportation department. This role ensures adherence to DOT regulations, safety standards, and compliance across all vehicle types, including golf carts, trams, vans, and buses. The position partners cross-functionally with Health & Safety and Human Resources to maintain driver qualifications, compliance documentation, and operational safety standards.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and enforce transportation safety policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local transportation regulations, including DOT requirements where applicable.
  • Maintain current safety documentation, standard operating procedures, and compliance records.
  • Support incident and accident investigations, including corrective action planning.
  • Promote and reinforce a safety-first culture throughout the department.
  • Coordinate pre-employment MVR checks, annual MVR reviews, driver eligibility, and clearance processes with HR.
  • Track driver licenses, CDL certifications, medical cards, and required training certifications.
  • Identify, escalate, and resolve driver compliance concerns or violations.
  • Oversee vehicle safety compliance for golf carts, trams, passenger vans, and buses.
  • Partner with Fleet teams to manage preventative maintenance schedules, inspection compliance, and removal of unsafe vehicles from service.
  • Assist with onboarding, safety training, refresher courses, defensive driving, and equipment-specific training.
  • Support daily transportation operations, dispatch coordination, and emergency response needs.
  • Ensure third-party transportation vendors meet organizational safety and compliance standards.
  • Verify vendor insurance, driver qualifications, and safety documentation.
  • Maintain vendor compliance records and prepare regular safety/compliance reports for leadership.
  • Track key metrics including incidents, accidents, MVR status, training completion, and inspection compliance.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of transportation safety practices, compliance standards, and DOT regulations.
  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience with fleet management or safety monitoring systems such as Samsara or similar platforms.
  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance scheduling and vehicle inspection programs.
  • Experience delivering driver onboarding, safety training, or defensive driving programs.
